*FIRST GROW* -big bud auto- how do they look?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by bigbudz3, Sep 30, 2014.

  1. hey guys so this is my first time growing and im well into my grow at about 50days and ive been having a blast watching these babies grow. i just had a couple of question and wanted to see what people think of my girls so far.

    my setup is :

currently have 3 bug bud autoflowers along with 2 regular freebie seeds in grow room

    1 600w hps

2 6500k cfl (have been taken out now though)

10gallon DWC system for two autos and a third in soil

    2 large airstones in DWC

    using general hydroponics nutrients

My two autos in the DWC are HUGE!!! the big one is almost 6ft!!! the samller one is about 4ft 5in! they are massive with too many budsites to count!!! i was under the impression that autos wouldnt grow so large due to such a short lifespan but mine have far exceeded all expectations that i had. ive had to tie the top of the big girl down due to her being too close to the light. The auto in the soil in about 2ft tall and by far budding the quickest.

    so my questions are:

has anyone else had autos that have grown to be as big as mine?

does the size of these girls mean that the yield will be significantly more?

why does the soil auto seem to be flowering quicker?

what do you think of my girls? :)

thanks for any and all replies:)

  2. They are gorgeous. How long were they vegging?

  3.
Thank you for your kind words :D any thoughts on how or why they are so big? and if it will yield more due to the bigger size?

they veg'd for about 36days i believe. or at least thats when i first started noticing quite a lot of pistils.

will keep this post going until harvest so everyone can see the end results. until then more feedback is always wanted and greatly appreciated..thanks everyone :smoke:

  4. They are big because they thrived off sufficient amounts of light. And probably because they are sativa dominant

  5. Im not sure about the yield i have yet to get my own. Doing my first actual crop once i get some cfl lights.

  6.
groovy :hello:  im glad to know ive been giving my babies enough light! thank you for your input :)

  7. just found the first actual nug and thought id share...im so excited lol

  9. welcome leftley and jumper! happy to have you both here

  10. they look happy and healthy when buds start appearing you might need to help the big girl and support some of them branches, especially that super big one :smoke:

  11. thank you very much! I give full credit of my plants being healthy to the GC forums and all the members! I dont think i wouldve ever started a grow of my own if I hadnt gotten so much great info and tips from all the awesome folks on here! anyways, I will certianly be tying my babies up once they start putting on weight!(cant wait!) :smoking: so again thank you MJ farmer for your comments and advice and as always more input/advice is always grealty appreciated :smoke:

**i will be putting some updated pics up later tonight

  12. hello all,

i have just returned from checking on my girls and i am pleased to say they are doing great! It seems the big girl has finally finished stretching and is (hopefully) putting all her energy into flowering. All the budsites are putting on weight little by little and there are a couple colas starting to form! I will be tying branches up in the next couple days to support the added weight of the buds. so here are a few pics of the girls from today. i know there isnt much difference but i tried to get some different angled shots for you guys so enjoy! as always comments and advice always welcome and appreciated :smoke:

  15. It's no biggy dude, no need to apologize. Can still look at the pictures well. :)

  16. welcome grizzant! thank you for your comments! In the beggining of the grow i had 2 cfls 2-3in above my plants with my hps raised as high as possible while still on. My reasoning for doing this was in the beggining my room temp was a bit too high and i wanted to keep my hps as far away as possible (especially while they were young) until i could fix the temp. once i had the temp under control and the girls were about 10-12in tall i removed the cfls and lowered my hps to about 30in above the tops of the girls and just slowly raised it as they grew. thanks for pointing out the difference between soil and hydro for me! im happy ill have both to compare :smoke:  anyways thanks again for your comments/questions/advice! always greatly appreciated! :hello:

**i will be posting more photos in another day or two

  17. I'm not here to rain on any parades, but for the strain of your plants, they are stretched pretty far. I'd suggest keeping your hps closer next go around, considering indica's are usually smaller and have more densely packed growth nodes.

That being said, they look very pretty man, helluva good job for your first time!

  18. hi mayor!
thank you for your comments! no worries about raining on my parade as this is my first grow and im just looking for any and all help/advice. I honestly was quite confused as to how my plants have gotten so big being that they are autoflowers. Ive had my hps at about 30in for the whole grow (except for the first 3 weeks when my cfl's were above the girls) and i determined this height by using what is called the "hand test" which is something i read on here. how close should my lights be to prevent stretching while not burning my babies?

thanks again for your comments and tips! they are always greatly appreciated :smoke:
