Toyota Truck Talk 4x4

  1.
Cheers brother. I've never been much of a car guy, but this Cruiser stole my heart.

Jeeps are sexy powerhouses and I've seen them do some pretty amazing things, but the Tundra is a pure beast. When it comes to the best off-road, I reckon it's really personal preference, but there's no denying the badass factor of the Tundra. Dreaming about having one gets me a little bit excited. Private dealers just started selling them in Oz. I'd get one.

    Some day.  :smoke:

Haha, cool man, well if this thread picks up I'll post all the updates to my truck... In the meantime a badass truck is a badass truck, lol. I wonder if it's to late to change the thread title to BadAss Trucks? Lol.
Anyway... I really want to build a custom bed on my Tundra kind of like this: http://www.rollglobal.org/2011/04/tacoma/
Theres a ton of really cool ideas out there... I just don't want to jeopardize the integrity of the 4x4 capacity, if that makes sense. ✌️

  3. Definitely post your mods man.

I think a bed in the back is a great idea. That's a popular type of rig for backpackers down here, would have done it myself if the back end were long enough. You wouldn't have to worry about something like that compromising the 4x4, unless you're really weighing yourself down. Sleep like a king.

  4. hell yeah bro! That's the idea :D

Damn, that little thing looks tough! What's the specs... What size engine & tranny do usually those sport? I like it blacked out like that. I wonder if that's an air compressor on the front with the wench? Welcome to the thread homie, it's always good to have fresh pics & topics! :D peace✌️

mechanic i know has a (the?) sidegeek. built his own suspension, ridiculous articulation - looks like its basically stock ride height (minus tubing around rockers), but can climb ledges like you would believe with just smallish all terrains. you can turn ninety degrees in either direction up 55-60 degree hills at 15mph and keep all four wheels planted. go easy on the transfer cases though, popping the nose up and landing with the tires spinning will blow one of the gears out.

  9. Not at the moment, the new turbo is in the engine bay.it needs a downpipe exhaust for the turbo,oil/coolant lines,12v glow plugs, steering shaft is wobbly.

Seems overwhelming, but im stuck loving the simplicity of my bicycle.

    Someday ill get it done

  10. for the price of a tundra, id rather get a 200 series and chop it into a ute.

Truth. Though I'm a sucker for the 70 series over the 200.

not sure what you mean? here we call it a ute conversion, although that particular one has an extended chasis. you can also get an extra lazy axle. http://www.creativeconversions.com.au/

yeah the 70s are pretty rugged inside compared to a 200 lol completely different kettle of fish. but what am i saying, ive got a mine spec 100 series slug (coil all round baby flexy flex!) so it doesn't even have power locks or windows! if i needed a ute again definitely go straight to a 70.

  13. I think he was asking what the model is. Knight, it's a Landcruiser 200.

That's a sweet ute, man. I used to drive a Land Rover (in the city like a fucking ponce), but I've fallen head over heels for Cruisers of all shapes and sizes. I don't reckon I'd get anything else. When the day comes to settle down and invest in another ute for work, I don't think I'd consider anything but a Toyota. Probably a 70, but as I said, that Tundra is somethin' else.

  14.
Australia. its short for utility vehicle. they are pretty massive way of life over here (i for instance am 3500km away from the next biggest city). should check out the deni ute muster, so many utes!

Utes are the result of the Australian inclination to address every problem in the most bogan way possible. You need a truck but only have a car to drive? No fuckin' worries, mate, we'll just chop off the back and she'll be right.
