First grow - closet - bugs

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Unik04, Sep 29, 2014.

  1. Hi guys,

This week my plant are well into flowering and looking great but I notice little bugs (Like verry little spiders). I heard people using dish saop mix with water to get rid of them, but I want to make sure because I wouldn't want to upset my girls.

    thanks for your help guys.

  2. Hard to tell what exactly they are from the pics but my guess is spider mites. Search on here and Google and see if those are them. There are many ways people get rid of them. I personally have no experience with them so can't really help first hand. But the sooner you get them under control the better...

Well After a bit of reading I decided to clean them all with dish saop. I'm just scared it will dry my plant or affect them so I made sure to remove as much soap as possible. I'm sure they don't like soap shower, I'll do this 2 more time this week and hopefully get rid of all the mites.

  4. Ugh. Did you not read you can't do that in flower? Your buds are gonna be fucked up now.

  5. Even if I washed the soap completely?

    they look fine this morning.

  6. oh well...next time I'll take better precautions

    and....the fucking spiders are back.

  7. OMG... I'm sorry but that is the funniest thing I've seen today. Out of all the ways to take care of pests and the entire internet at your finger tips you chose to take a flowering plant and give it a shower with soap and all. Might as well hit it with some body spray and get it smelling good well you're at it.

Why not look up "homemade ways to kill spider mites" you get thousands of results. Or hell go to Home Depot or your local Green House and just ask. People down at local green houses don't get enough credit and some have a real passion for plants and great knowledge. Plus with a boring job some are more than happy to just have someone to even talk to at work.

  10. Unik, I hope you remembered to use a good conditioner and detangler! Seriously though, this post and pic made my day. Back in the day I tried to get rid of spider mites by freezing them. I put my plant out on the balcony in the Swiss winter, lost that girl and learned a lesson.

If your plant survives, try this: use a spray bottle. Buy some neem oil (small bottle) from a grow supplier. Add 3ml neem oil to 1 liter of water in the spray bottle. Add 1-2 DROPS of liquid handwashing dish soap per liter of water in the bottle to act as a surfactant, helping whatever you dissolve into the solution to evenly wet the leaves or soil. Screw the top on and shake that bottle. Next, remove your plant from under the grow lights and spray the undersides of the leaves well, along with the soil surface. Shake the bottle now and again to keep it mixed. You can spray the tops of the leaves as well if you like. Let her rest 15 mins outside the lights. Clean your grow area before returning your plant to her grow area. Some people spray the top surface of the leaves again as a rinse before allowing her to dry and returning to the lights. Repeat again after 3 days and your bugs should be gone. If not, repeat. Note that it's best not to spray buds once they've really started to develop, say after week 3-4 of flower.

Hope that helps! Keep at it, snap an enviable harvest and you'll be a legend on gc after posting that pic...

  16. Well when flipped a plant goes through stretch for a week or two then pistils start to shoot everywhere and bud buildinfg starts.

Pistil allways start sprouting just after stretch so that's why I say 2-3 weeks into flower.
Pretty much 1/3 of the way through flower on an 8ish week strain.
