  3. Miracle gro is full of micro nutrients that aren't meant for your plant and can cause stress and nute lock during early stages. I have used it successfully, but be ready for some nute burn and PH problems.

  4. ohhh ok that makes sense but what soil whould u recommend ?

  5. is there anything to help nute lock or prevent it ?

  6.
Yes - don't start with poorly manufactured potting soils like Miracle Grow

What 'general area' of the world do you live? That would be very helpful for anyone wanting to give you any legitimate advice.

The challenge is that quality potting soils are regional because shipping soil is very expensive meaning that you the customer pays for the logistics involved.

If you lived in New England then you'd want to consider Coast of Maine - one of the premium potting soils across the USA. If you lived on the West Coast you could look at using Malibu B/U Biodynamic Compost with Canadian Sphagnum peat moss (Home Depot item).

    Just a thought....

  10. Will this be the last plant (of any kind) you grow or are you looking for a long term solution?

  11. The key issue with MG is the time release versions. They relase too much nitrogen when you try 12/12. It can take forever to trick her into flowering and you can have her keep trying to go back to veg.

  12. well I'm doin hydro now with 2 plants and yea if things work out its gonna be a long term

I would think about building your own soil. I went the bagged soil route and it was just a waste of time. Check out the No-til thread in this section. I would go to home Depot and get a bale of Premier peat moss, some lava rock and pea gravel. Then source the best compost you can find. I use Coast of maine and sometimes Farmer D. As far as amendment go unless you're buying 50 lb sacks of everything it's really hard to beat buildasoil.com "CC Nutrient mix" prices for 10cf and up.

Here's a good recipe from Coot.

    1/3 spaghnum peat moss
1/3 aeration (lava and pea gravel)
    1/3 compost

    To each cubic foot
    1/2 cup kelp meal
    1/2 cup neem meal
    1/2 cup crab meal

    1/2 cup oyster shell flower
    1/2 cup gypsum

    3 cups rock dust

For $100 you can have 6 cf of soil you won't find in a hydro store.

Use the biggest container you can. Plant directly into it. Veg, flower, harvest, and plant right back into the container without disturbing the soil as much as possible. Repeat.

  14. oh damn that 'll do it thanks

I'd recommend you browse the thread linked below. It contains several ready to grow bagged soils that have been vetted by several of our veteran organic growers. Hopefully you'll recognize a product that is local to you. While building your own soil is the preferred method here, we understand that not everybody has the means to do so.

Ready To Grow Bagged Soil is a good starting point to find a soil to find a quality bagged soil IMO.
