Car Stuck In Mud

Discussion in 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' started by Elevated801, Sep 28, 2014.

  1. Well I'm kind of a fucking idiot... So I went to this desert party. Couple nights ago and I drove my little two wheel drive hyundai out there onto the salt flats. Well I forgot to check the weather down there and I ended up getting my car stuck in the mud. It's not too terrible but it definitely is stuck. I was wondering I you guys had any advice for how I could get this thing out?

  2. get a friend with a 4x4 and cum-a-long yourself out off their truck

  3. this is it. start your offers at $25.

  4. That's what I'm thinking ill do. Should I get like a couple of 2x4s to put under the wheels for traction or is that a ad idea?

  5. Did you try rocking it to get it out? Also are you buried up to your floor boards? If I was near you I would tow you out if I could not drive you out. Good luck op.

  7. Dig out the mud in front/back of your wheels, keep your wheels straight, rock back and forth....and when you get going don't stop...

  8. if/when you get it out, have it detailed and trade it in.

  9. Deflate the tires a bit for more traction?

Mostly just get a 4x4 and pull that thing out.

  10. In a pinch you could use you'r floor mats under the wheels for traction. Make sure you attach any snatch straps to your proper recovery points so you don't rip anything off your car.

yep 4x4 to pull you out, deflate tyres, shove shit under tyres and start digging is about all you can do. as others have said be VERY careful what you attach the strap too and always make sure you have a damper as its very likely to break and send metal in your direction and lethal speeds. take this photo for example, 29yo mother killed by a tow ball.

when you get home, wash it out underneath and sell it. your car is now ruined.

  12. Hahaha oh man I'm glad I didn't go out to stansbury for that after seeing pictures of the cars buried. You're gonna need a 4x4 or a tow truck depending how deep your in it

Some dude with one of those razor quad/4x4s came up and pulled me out so I didn't even have to use my buddies truck. I ended up using done boards under the tires, digging a chanel to get out and then just pinning it to get out. It only took about 30 minutes to get out. My car is filthy with mud on the interior but I pretty much have cleaned it almost all the way. Definitely learned my lesson this time. ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1412056924.355227.jpg

I'm glad everything worked out but I think the car is done. The salt is going to ruin your undercarriage faster than you think.

  16. for future reference if you put a bunch of gravel or dry foliage behind or in front of your wheels you can usually drive right out of the mud.

  17. How we did it in GA. get a big ass over powered truck and snatch on it til the bumpers fall off
