    Hello everybody!

I though i should make a grow journal about my little operation to get some advice and see what u guys think.

    So lets get this started.

I got 2 plants, both bagseeds... so i dont know the strain, but the older one... shes 7weeks 1 day (1week and 5days of it its been on flower cycle) old for now (counted from since poppin) is definately indica, really big fat fan leaves etc.
Got seed from kind of quality bud.. really thick one, good looking (was pretty dark green colour), smelled delicious and hit kind of mellow, like.. i didnt knock your knees off in a second but after 10-15 minutes it gave a really good strong couchlock stone.
So yeah, i know what to expect from that one.

Younger plant seed was from average bug, nothing too special and it looks like its hybrid to me...
but let the pics talk themself.
    Shes 5weeks old btw.

    s14.jpg
    s12.jpg
    s19.jpg

Shes (hopefully its a female lol, not showing sex yet) running 18/6 on 60W 6500k supersize CFL right now. I know its not too much wattage for her but i dont have any free sockets atm where i could plug some more (got like 260W-300W cool light CFLs waiting.. 4000k and 6700k) also i havent made a ventilation yet for that cabinet so temps would get out of hand too.. theyre 63F-79F / 17C-26C atm, humidity is about 40-50%... could be a little higher like 70 for vegging but what da hell... im just waiting it to show sex.
Shes in small cabinet, (had to separate them when the older one started to fre-flower/showing sex or however u call it) so atm i also dont want her to get too big cause i have nowhere to put her then.
I cant tell the exact size of the cab right now cuz i dont have measure tape near me but its about 1/3 size of the bigger cab where older one is flowering atm.
Shes been streching a lot lately, but seems like its slowed down a bit for now..

Here's a a pic of her when she was 2weeks 1 day old.
    a9.jpg

And now the older plant im more focusing on atm.
    f5.jpg

Didnt have a banana so i did use a lighter for scale... she really is a BIG.
    She barely fits in her flowering cab and its H 3.5FT , W 1.5FT , L 1.5FT / H 100cm , W 50cm , L 50cm.
Gotta start building a bigger place for her, i have a closet i could use, needs some paint job and vent holes, wiring etc... and looks like i'll have to hurry.

So guys tell me what u think?
To me she doesnt seem to be flowering fast, no visible buds, just some hairs and new colas/tops coming..

Also i dont have a much light running, like total of 130W, just dont have room for more atm

Here's a pics when she was 4weeks 2days old and first started to show a sex (turned her into flower like a week later cuz i wasnt sure about the sex yet, theres was only 1 little hair so i let her to preflower a bit)

    Sharp eye needed lol.

    I got 6" / 150cm exhaust like 118cfm / 200m³h.
2x 4" / 10cm intake (passive atm cuz i've heard its pointless to have fans on so i turned them off for power save, negative pressure will do the job... and its seems like i have evertything right, cause its nicely suckings air in even from smallest cracks and also its not suckings plant in lol, just slighly moving it.

Before installing the vent and carbon filters i had some terrible smell problem when they both were veggin, but now i cant smell none of them at all, even if im watering them, just a slight smell.. maybe cuz i lost my sense of smell cuz flu and running nose, or they lost their smell cuz before i installed vents i used to catch the smell like 30fts away from my grow room at my front door. Dunno, strange.. maybe im just too used to it lol.

    Anyways some more pics.

    a2.jpg
    How does it look?
Made it from some chicken and contructionwire + carbon filter and taped it all together.

Also i put some carbon filter on the intakes.. i know the exhaust one is supposted to be inside growbox but i didnt have room and i couldnt figure out what of i should make it... like i didnt had any pensil holders and also wouldnt be able to connect it to exhaust cuz it has grill covering the spinning blades... so i think i'll figure out something when im building a bigger growbox from the a closet i have.

Humidity is 40-50% so it seems to be okay for flowering.
Temps are 63F-81F / 17C-27C depends are the lights on or offand hows the weather outside...
Also i will have a temps dropping problem in a month or two cause the cold climate will hit and have to use a heater then i guess, will see then.

They both are in perlite soil and i used to feed them with tap water but now im using the rain water cause i think im having a problem with the PH, sadly... i dont have a PH tester, which is my top problem right now, cause older plant leaf tips are curling down and yellowing a bit... i heard rain water has kind of neutral PH, around 6-7 so im using it right now as i don't know what else to do or what my PH is, originally the soil i planted them had 6.5PH in the package but i sure its changed cuz of tap water i used before and nutes (gave both of them chicken shit and some other nature herb mix granules) 2 times about 1 and 3/4 teaspoon, NPK was 4.1.2 / 4% 1.2% 2%.
I got some suggestions that i might have a N toxicity and i should flush, which i belive cuz N was kind of high in that fertilizer, 4% but i've heard that 2% is more than good for veg so i might been over fer. her i guess.
Damn it sucks to be not knowing what ur PH is, im like a blind man
    doing bottleships right now.
I will try to get one soon but proper ones are quite expensive so yeah, will have this struggle meanwhile...

    1411925625603.jpg

My question is how should i flush her?
I've never done it before so i dont know... i've read its like pouring a ph water (rainwater for me) ... as same the amouth as big as the pot is and letting like 1/3 of the pot size run off and repeat it like 2-3 times when the soil is dry again, to get the salted roots back to normal, am i right?
Btw it looks like the rainwater made a situation a slightly better, they aint SOO droopy anymore but still..
Also i've cut down both plant low leaves, those one what grows first with 1, 3 & 5 leaf cuz they were yellowing and drying. Is this normal?

My goal here is just finish that grow and get some buds, im not hoping to get some top grade bud with massive yield but average bud for the newbie will be okay too.
Im just hoping i don't lose my girls and learn from this grow so my next one will be more successful.

Thanks for ur attention and sorry for the long post.
Feel free to ask/suggest and let me know what u think.
    Any help will be appreciated.

Have a good day and peace!

Dem some pics messed up, fixing it!
    Please be patient.

  3. Longest opening post ever lol, but hey they look good as hell for the lack of light. I would consider more lights for sure. Side lighting will be very helpful with these plants.

    Thanks lol
Its long cuz i didnt start my journal from the beginning stage so i had to take it up with one post.
Many things arent mentioned yet, like why did i fertilize them with chicken shit granules at the first place.
Well the lower leaves (older growth) started to yellowing etc.. and now im having that curling / droopy leaves problem with yellowing tips. I should use some blooming nutes too to increase bud grow but i'll have to get rid of my current problem first and get my PH stable.
Older one which are flowering atm have some side lights but yeah there could be more of them.
    Anyways thanks for the reply.

Also i wanted to ask can i cut the fan leaves (those big ones) on my flowering plant. So new growth (the ones which are coming between fan leaf stem and the plant main stem) can get more light, theyre covering all of them and the new growth seems to be pushing itself a way thru them to get some light.
And if yes, then how im suppose to cut them?
Close to a plant main stem?
Or just cut the leaf off?
Should i cut all the fan leaves at the same time or i should wait and do it step by step so plant wouldnt fall into a shock.
Doesnt it affect a new growth which are coming between fan leaf stem and plant main stem when im cutting the fan leaf off with/without stem?
I mean, maybe the new growth will stop growing and wont produce buds by that.
I've seen it on my plant lower young growth when i cut my lower fan leaves down cuz they were yellowing.
Also ive been using regular scissors before.
Should i use razor, which is dipped into a vodka (or whatever strong pure alcohol to sterilize the razor) and do it like it does the people who are cloning?

Might seem a stupid question but really i dont know lol and i dont want to experiment.
Maybe someone will help me out? :)

  6. UPDATE:
Younger one is showing sex, first 2 pistils sprout yesterday...now i got 2 ladys... nice!
I'll let her preflower like a week and then move her to flower with my older one. Building closet atm.
Also im still waiting sum answers to my questions, so if anyone got time, i would appreciate it.

Think im gonna make intakes on both sides close to a floor like i did in my previous growbox and put exhaust on top of back side.
I will take exhaust fan from my current box cuz ill have to save for ph tester and it would sit useless anyway. I guess the current growbox will stay for vegging stage in the future and that small cab for seedling stage.. also this is not the biggest closet, so maybe later future i'll have to built something bigger out of plywood or something.
Also, could it be possible to use HPS (maybe 600W?) in this sized closet with vent system i have right now + cooltube for hps?

    UPDATE:

I got my ph tester couple of days ago, my tap water ph is around 7.5 - 8.0
Yesterday i flushed both plants with 6.5-6.8 ph water, used lemon juice as ph reducer.
Runoff was really yellow lol, hope they're doing better now.
Also i installed some extra lights and now its around 300W total.
Might install some more, maybe like 150W or so... will see.

Anyways, older plant is 3weeks 2days in flowering and younger one is just 6days.
Buds are coming nicely on older plant, younger plant is just sprouting its pistils right now.

    And younger plant

Haven't used any blooming nutes yet.
Which ones should i use and what NPK? (as far as i've read low on N and high on P&K)
Also i've heard that regular tomato blooming nutes would do the trick...?
And how many drops/ml per gallon/litre?

  10. Some budshots.
Looks like they're loving those extra lights, such difference in few days.

    What is this?
Still N toxicity after flushing or what? I mean, leaf tips are still curled down..
    1413052460228.jpg
This disease is climbing up and up and soon there will be only empty stems.. i've cut like a shitload of leafs already..
    1413052618859.jpg
    1413052682476.jpg

What should i do, flush again?
Or is it something else, like Zinc def or whatever?

Younger plant is having some issues too, not sure is this the same disease or something else.

    Thanks!

  12. Btw this problem didn't occur overnight, its been going on for about month or longer, maybe 5-6weeks or so, started in veg.

  13. Don't stress too much and don't flush too often. When the lower leaves stop getting light as the plant grows they slowly die off, happens faster in flowering. Don't go too nuts with the nutes either, if a plant looks healthy thats usually because it is, so adding nutes might upset that, and won't add magical bud weight like the bottles claim. If you do choose to anyway add it in small amounts to start so you don't burn them and document what you have added and slowly increase the dosage.

    Okay, thanks for the reply.
Btw i just feed them 1ml/litre NPK 3/5/7 w microelements, not a brand fert, kinda "cheap" random one for garden flowers.
Lets see how they will react!
Also i got another 2,5/7/6 NPK w microelements, gonna use it next time.
Im actually kinda amazed how long i've made without nutrigents (if not counting those ones which was already in soil)

And i should transplant my younger plant into her final bigger pot, cuz the one shes now is too small, no room for the roots and plant dont get much big = less bud.
Will have to do it in coming days, sloppy job and kinda hard at this stage, also she doesnt seem to be flowering much, might be a pot size problem.
Anyways i hope my older plant wont get any more taller cause there no head room left much, i will have to bend her a then and it aint gonna be easy cuz the main stem im real mature.
Shes been flowering 4weeks for now, wondering how much more, maybe 6? Shes gonna get finished first, i think maybe month before younger. Im living in the north so also really cold climate will hit soon, maybe in a month and then i will be struggling w temps.
Paranoid to run a heater all day long when im not home, sh#t knows... even all those lights compressed in that small area isnt very safety.
Temps btw are 77-85/25-29 and humidity 45-60 depends on lights.

Ugh forget to mention but i smoked some leaves from older plant in a joint and got slightly stoned =D for testing u know.
Compared to my earlier "leaf experiences" then those ones doesnt have much cristals or whatsoever on them... just plank grass... junk... tastes like hay... but one plant which was like month old, wasnt even in preflower i think had so much christals on it, me and my buddy got soo stoned from one joint that we couldnt believe it.

Genetics matter, hope this sh#t wont turn up to be some low class bud, bowl after bowl.

  16. Good new = buds are swollen up pretty nicely, looking double of the size they were is the last pics, really crystal for now, especially under the trim leaves and shadow areas. Some hairs are starting to turn brown slowly, smell is strong and funky, buds are dense, especially top colas.
Younger plant are also flowering fast by now, repotted it lately. Smells less than older and im pretty sure by now its sativa by look of the leaves and height (slightly taller than older plant)

Bad news = Almost all my fan leaves on older plant are dead (yellow) and its climbing up and up, also it got the new growth, those low and middle leaves, so im running with time now.. might chop her earlier than i should, hoping i can get atleast the hairs brown b4 i chop.
Im really out of ideas, i gave her nutes and seemd like it turned the situation worse and i didnt overfeed/if then under.. will try one more time feeding her couple times with larger doses to see does it affect but yeah, its screwed, i flushed her again and ph is correct, so i dunno whats wrong with her.
Younger plant have same issues but not looking that bad. Will post pics later!

    Few days old pics.
Older plant is close to 7weeks in flower and younger 4weeks.

I think that the older plant is having a root rot or smth... theres mold on/in the soil and the soil seems to be smelling also, not sure cuz buds are smelling strong too :D
Hope she can last atleast to 9-10 weeks and the hairs will get brown before i chop.. theyre turning too slow right now.. just few of them per bud.
Btw top cola looks damn tight and tasty on the older plant.. but plant strain itself seems to be with lower thc % cuz trims aint too frosty.. like comparing to younger plant which have frost even on longer trim leaves and pretty much everywhere near buds.. once the older is chopped younger one will get all the lights.. guess she will love it.. maybe in a 2 weeks.. hopefully more...

Peace & love, stay medicated :)
