had an interesting debate lately with a fellow grass city member. essentially said all forms of smoke are bad for the lungs cannabis included, and lung cancer has occurred to ONLY weed smokers and theres nothing out there to say it won't in the future.

    his quote
what do you have to say to this?

    -Do you have lung cancer?
-how are your lungs when your doctor checks them if at all?
    -xray results?
    -how do your lungs feel?

    thanks guys...

  2. Surely it has negative effects, some could be cancerous.  But marijuana can reduce the growth rate of many types of cancer by up to 50%.  Weather it affects lung cancer I couldn't tell you for sure.

I don't think I have lung cancer, never go to the doctor, never had xrays...

  3. had my chest listened to by a nurse just last week and everything was fine! no x-rays

Smoke is still harmful no matter what way you look at it.
There are other forms of enjoying cannabis without smoking.

  5. If you got a herb iron then you can smoke all you want without it being harmful.

  6. @[member="IBALL904"] That's not true, the smoke being produced from the herb is to blame, sure herb iron is better then a lighter but not by much.  Edibles or concentrates would be a healthier alternative to your lungs.

  7. im also very interested though if any of you know or knew someone who only smoked cannabis and got lung cancer from it. this same person thought i was a nut when I implied no one has died from cannabis, which was a bit startling and made me think for a moment

  8. A simple google search brings up tons of info on the topic.

  9. Extensive research has been done to investigate the link between cigarette smoking and lung cancer. With weed this is not the case because it is illegal. A basic understanding of the effect smoke has on the lungs suggests that smoking weed is probably not healthy for your lungs. How unhealthy it actually is still hasn't been accurately determined.

I haven't heard of anybody who smoked only weed and got lung cancer but that really doesn't prove anything.

  10. combustion = carcinogenic byproducts

    Simple as that.

  11. I am not requiring google results. i want experienced posts from people here who are long time only pot smokers and those who have something to say on their lung function and if they have a nasty tumor growing in there from weed smoking

  12. Honestly, I quit cigarettes a year ago and started E-Cig's a few months ago... 0.4ohm dual coil atm, so getting into the hobby aspects.
But my point is, it'd be ignorant to think there's no possibility of harm coming down the road from ecigs... And the same can be said about weed... Pick and choose what you want to risk and balance it with your other options... E-Cigarettes or Newports? Weed or Crack? McDouble Fatass or Salad?

  13. The idea is that burning plant matter and smoking it (combustion) is not the ideal way of ingesting THC for medicinal purposes. Vaporizing and edibles are the cleanest, most efficient and healthy way to use THC. Sure, lots of heavy smoking may irritate your lungs if they're sensitive, but you're not going to get cancer.

  14. No smoke is technically good for you, but the smoke that comes from weed is definitely not as bad as most other types of smoke.

  15. You're not going to find proof of anything. A couple dozen people who say they smoke weed and don't have lung cancer is evidence of nothing. Also people who are nonsmokers have contracted lung cancer so even if you do have someone come in and say they never smoked cigarettes but smoked weed and now they have lung cancer you still don't have proof that smoking weed causes lung cancer.

  16. Smoke is a foreign substance, not meant to pass through our biological systems - ie: lungs, etc... (as I pull a hit from my vape)

  17. Im not looking for any type of proof for anything, i just want to see how seasoned smokers react to this

  18. Obviously any kind of smoke inhaled isn't good for your lungs but of all the kinds of smoke you can be inhaling pot smoke is going to be one of the least harmful.

Because it's sort of comparing apples to oranges.

People who die from lung cancer usually smoke cigarettes.

The average smoker smokes about 20 cigarettes a day, and each cigarette has around 1 gram of tobacco.

I'll tell you right now I don't know a single cannabis smoker that smokes the equivalent of 20 grams of weed a day...that would be 15 pounds of weed a year.

Weed smokers smoke less weed than tobacco smokers smoke tobacco so it's not really a good comparison.

  20. so regular use of cannabis which is no where close to 20 grams a day of a cigarette smoke in the average smoker means they just dont smoke enough to have these same effects in their lungs as cigarette users
