    Hey everyone,

I bought a Da Buddha a few years ago and use it every once in a while, but mainly I still used combustion as my prefered method.  A few weeks back I decided to start vaporizing exclusively.  So, having loved the Da Buddha so much I bought a Silver Surfer Vape.  I know they are basically the same thing, but I just thought it looked cool and they were having a sale for the blemished units.  Only paid 100 bucks for it on their site.  Pretty awesome deal.

Anyway, there isnt much difference in it.  Actually I think the Da Buddha might be a little but better since the heating coil comes up further in the Da Buddha I can set the temp lower.

Anyway, I know the Volcano is pretty much universally considered the best Vape out there.  Only issue people have with it, if they have any issues, is using the bag.

I am considering buying a Volcano for a few reasons.

    1) When I am finished getting all the vape out of my bowl with the SSV I can still kinda see some trichomes on it.  So, I know I havent vaped all of the medicine out of it.  I can turn the temp up but if I do it starts to combust.  So I feel I am wasting a lot of the weed this way.  I know I can use it for other things, but I dont like edibles and I dont want to smoke any longer.  I have read where people take their vaped weed from the SSV and put it in the Volcano and get a nice bag out of it (not sure this is true, but read it in a few posts)

    2) Like I said, I want to start vaping exclusively and I want the best I can get so I get the most out of my product in the long run.  I dont mind spending a bit now and saving on using less medicine in the long run.  I feel I go through my weed much faster when I combust then when I vape.

Well you guys get the idea.

I just dont want to spend all the money and use it a few times and go back to the SSV.  I have read the Volcano isnt so much for personal use, it is much more for multple users.  Like a party for passing around.

I watched a you tube video where someone put the same amount of weed in the Volcano that I put in the SSV and they got 3 giant bags out of it, where I would only get about 4 hits on the SSV.  I mean is that even real?  How could they get so much more vapor?

In case you guys are wondering when I use the Da Buddha I have the knob at 12 o'clock an on the SSV it is at 2 o'clock.  Reason being on my Da Buddha the heating element almost touches the top of the heater cover so I am directly in front of the heat so I dont need it that hot.  SSV the heating element is just below the curve that I put my standard wand up to so I need it a bit hotter to get enough heat to vape.

    Sorry, If I am rambling.

Basically, should I stay with the SSV and save some money or get the Volcano?

Thanks for any help guys =)

  2. Depends upon your bag size on the volcano! I was using their original bags they came with but they are kinda chinsy, get little air holes in it after awhile. I use Reynolds wrap oven safe bags (original used for cooking chickens, turkeys, etc.). I get about 3-4 deep breathed inhales out of the chicken sized bag, and roughly about 3-4 solid bags when I pack .3 gram in it. When I say Solid it means you can't see anything threw the bag. Then it starts to thin out from there on. Volcanos very versatile as well, when I have more then 3 people in rotation I switch to the turkey sized bag and I can get about 10 deep breathes out of it. I have the analog Volcano, only downside to it is you have to watch the light on it when you are blowing the bag up. Usually takes 2 light phases to blow up the personal bag. My buddy has the digital volcano and he can blow up pretty much any size bag without having to worry about the temp going down. Just gotta make sure to stir up what you packed after each bag. I would recommend the digital, it really is nice being able to find out which temp works best with each strain, some strains just don't taste good at the temp you ran before. You don't have to worry about it combusting, definitely no way possible. I've run it full blast and it didn't combust. Just hurts to hit when temps to high.

  3. You can't really compare much to the Volcano. Storz & Bickel did it the right way. I'll never get rid of mine, well I will but that will only be because I'm upgrading to the digital. They are a very friendly company as well, if you drop it and break something, just send it back in and they will fix it.

lol even the people who used to pimp the volcano up dont even say that anymore.

If you are looking to get the most out of vaporizing, and it sounds like you are, then you should be looking in to log vaporizers like the enano and underdog.

  5.
First off, for those that know and have had a lot of experience with vaporizers, it's inaccurate to state that, "...the Volcano is pretty much universally considered the best Vape out there."

Secondly, to state that the only issue people have with it is using the bag.    That's like saying that a BMW is a great car but the only issue that people have with it is how it drives.  :confused_2:

  6. I would look into an herbalizer if your gonna spend the money for a volcano.

  7. Waterboi - Thank you so much for your input.  You are defeinitly making me want this Volcano even more now.  I would get the digital easy valve if I do end up getting it.  Seems like the best option.

POtato Head - Thanks for your input as well.  I friend of mine had the epic enano and loved it until he got the SSV and said he likes that better.  I never got a chance to try his enano because he sold it after trying the SSV.  I guess thats a personal preference.  I never heard of the underdog though.  Although I am new to vaporizoring, so not sure of all the Vapes out there.  I just keep hearing Volcano, Volcano, Volcano.  So I am very curious about this.

  8.
Just to put this in some perspective, there are many users over at FC who own multiple vapes including the Volcano and many of them only take it down from the shelf when they have a party going on.     Many others have sold theirs in favor of other vapes.

I guess the first thing you have to ask yourself is, "Why do I want a bag vape?"

  9. Iwien - Like I said I am new to what is out there.  What else is wrong with the Volcano?  I really dont know much about it.

TreeTrunkBuddha - The herbalizer looks pretty sweet actually.

  10. I'm not really into the bags, but have tried both and the volcano vaporizes a lot better and is of much higher quality--I haven't dealt with Volcano, but I hear their service department is excellent and they stand behind their products. On the other hand It's no secret that the 7th floor has a very bad reputation in it's customer service, so between the two it seems like a no brainer.

Seventh floor a bad reputation in customer service? Yeah dude thats a pretty fucking large stretch to make here based on an isolated occurrence. I have followed seventh floor very closely for the past 3 years and still have only seen one person with something negative to say about the seventh floor customer service.

Underdog is just another log vape manufacturer. According to them ( I dont know how true it is) they have sold more log vapes than any other company and for good reason.

    Downsides to the Volcano:

One of the least efficient vapes on the market.
LOTS of internal surface area in that bag for condensation to take place.   Not a good thing.
Vapor begins to go stale as soon as it enters the bag.    Starts tasting pretty nasty after about 10 minutes.
Unlike glass or ceramic, all plastic will add a taste of it's own to the herbs, including the plastic bags of the 'Cano.
    Noisy when in operation.
You cannot leave it out without people going, "What in the hell is that?"  That is, not very stealthy.
At any given temperature, the Volcano will have a higher air to vapor ratio than other vapes that use a different delivery system.   In other words, the vapor is not as dense.   The only way to get dense vapor with a Volcano is to put a lot of weed in the crucible and crank up the heat, which negatively affects both the taste and the efficiency.

But...........if you are primarily going to use your vape as a party vape, nothing beats the idiot-proofness of a bag.

  13. I'm all for the Volcano. I haven't found a vape in comparison go it. If you do get the digital, get the solid valve system bag. Allows for interchang
Allows for switches of the bag where as the easy valve has the bag connected.

  14. I don't know why you would be waiting with a bag full of vapor for 10 minutes. Sounds like you haven't had much experience with it. I use mine every single day, hell I don't even use anything else anymore. Only downside I have found is having to be patient waiting for it to heat up. Blow the bag up, hit the red button to turn the heating element off, hoof it down, hit the red button wait for light, blow bag back up. Repeat. Easy, and simple. Just takes time

  15. Forgot to mention the part of bleeding it before you connect the bag. Start blowing air thru the piece you have packed until you see vapor coming and then connect the bag.

  16. I mean I have the SSV right now and its great, dont get me wrong, but I just feel like I could be getting more vapor sometimes.  I watched a video on youtube (think it was vape critic) where he took like 15 draws on the SSV and they were thick milky looking vape hits.  On my SSV I get like 5 maybe 6 and after draw 1 the vapor is barely noticable.  Maybe it is my quality of weed?

Sometimes when I dump out the weed when I am done it either looks like brown powder (usually when I draw too slow or crank the heat up) or it is intact and light brown but I still see Trichomes on it.  So I know there is more to be had.

Like I said earlier I read where people take their used SSV duff and put it in the Volcano and get a big bag out of it.  Again, not sure how true this is.  But that is why I was thinking of the Volcano.  I just want something that is going to be the mose effecient.  I dont care if it is bag or whip or stealth or loud.  I just want it to work awesome and make my product go the furthest.

Thanks for all the input guys.  It helps when you talk to people who have experience.

  17.
Some people like to take their time in a vape session, like taking a medium sized hit once every 10 to 30 minutes or so.    It has nothing to do with my lack of experience with it.

  18.
If you primarily want that, do NOT get the Volcano.    You would be MUCH better off getting a log vape, such as the E-Nano, the Hi or the Underdog all of which are very efficient vaporizers.     When I went from a Volcano to my Purple Days (log vape that is no longer being made), my consumption was cut down by more than half.

  19. I guess we just vape differently, I just sesh and get on with my day, few hours later I take a break, sesh again get back on with my day. Definitely is a stay at home piece though, not made for being transportable use.

  20. Then they take the abv out of the Cano and blow another bag with the herbalaire.... ;)
