Can I Move An Outdoor Plant To Darkness Once In A While For Security Reasons?

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by Acetonitrile2, Sep 26, 2014.

  1. Hey all

I have posted this in the Absolute Beginners forum but got no reply, thought this might be the appropriate place to ask.

I might be growing a plant outdoors on a balcony.
This plant will probably be of an autoflowering strain (not completely sure yet).
The thing is that guests might be coming once in a while and they shouldn't see that plant for security reasons. Will it be OK to move the plant once in a while to a dark room (there's a small "service light" there if that might help)?

I know that for a plant to receive light during darkness is disastrous, but is the opposite also that bad?

Thanks in advance for any input on the subject!

  2. There's a chance you might freak that lady out, its usually not a very good idea to mess with light cycles...

  3. An hour or two probably won't hurt them very much at all. I've had to do similar things or work on stuff and cut the electricity. Probably more detrimental would be light during dark.
