Do All Religions Lead To The Same Place?

Discussion in 'Religion, Beliefs and Spirituality' started by vildhjarta, Sep 24, 2014.

  1. Hi all,
I was wondering if all religions had the same outcome, as if they are all spokes on a wheel and God or whatever supreme being or essence of some sort is the middle. Does any one else ever wonder about this?

  2. Are you wondering if the different religions "believe" in different outcomes or if you believe in different religions them there are different outcomes?

  3. No some religions believe in Heaven and Hell while others believe in reincarnation.

No one knows what really happens when you die, until they die.

  4. yes, no where.

  5. Quite simply No.  There is only one truth.

  6. This is the most intelligent answer I've read yet.

  7. From my experience and understanding, yes. Although where they lead is hard to say. Things are veiled in so many concepts that seem contradictory, but religion always brings us to a higher state of mind and living if followed correctly. Some might be more helpful in that sense than others.

  8. I've found that all religions have an underlying cause, morality. If god doesn't exist, can morality exist? And thats why all religions tell you what you should/shouldnt do. They all serve as guidelines to get you into heaven, nirvana, whatever place you want to go to when you die. Some religions go further and condemns you to die if you don't believe or follow these guidelines. Even buddhists who believe in reincarnation believe in a final end, nirvana, only achieved through meditation and thus enlightenment. These religions have been seen throughout history and even in cultures secluded by others. They're all created by some person who wanted to express their guess at that which is unknown. SO yes they all lead to the same place, death and the metaphysical dilemma that no one knows where they go when they die, so each culture has it's different idea of it.

Also I wouldn't say religion always brings us to a higher state of mind and living if followed correctly because religion has caused a bunch of problems when dealing with others, look at the crusades christianity and muslims fought for control of holy land and considered each other as living wrongly. Or how muslims treat women is considered by western countries as wrong and oppressive. Or the cast system that can be summed up as once a beggar on the street, always a beggar on the street. Religion is a set of beliefs that are based off some 'divine knowledge' written down by some dude long before slavery was considered wrong. But religion does teach some how to be good and nice people, but it's the same thing that's used to justify blowing up a car in a crowd of innocent people based off their interpretation of jihad.

All religions lead to the same place, that place consists of mind controlled zombies who can't think for themselves.  When you allow other people to tell you how life is, your being lazy and will never find any true answers.  If you want to know truth, you seek it out for  yourself.  What I will agree with is that all religions 'point' to the same place, so if that is what was meant, then yes.  All religions and philosophies DO point to the same place, and it's not something 'out there'.

**  Most religions are pointing you in the right direction, and thats to NOT FOLLOW any specific religion and to go within and KNOW THYSELF.  Religions have been hijacked as a means for control, as a grand deception.

  10. I think they generally all believe in this sense that there is balance in the world between dark and light, in which they usually accommodate the afterlife to, such as heaven and hell.

  11. I think what the OP is asking is does it matter what path one takes, does it always lead to God?

(by God I mean all that is, the Divine, one, not something father-like, controlling, vengeful, anthropomorphised, or religious)

I'd say yes, it must, because God is all that is. Nothing need be invalidated, all is valid if you feel drawn to what it says to you. Doesn't mean you will always walk the same way. Doesn't mean someone else is wrong if they don't walk your way.

I think the idea is the same, bring misery into the world and you'll pay the consequences.

There's no reason God would be forced to punish and reward everyone the same way but I believe the same God judges everyone and everyone is held accountable according to their unique circumstances.

  13. It's always a hard one to reconcile the idea of something that is outside us judging us when we are flawed beings to begin with. If one doesn't know how to play the game, it might seem unfair to get punished for making mistakes. Of course, perhaps that's the point - learn from those mistakes, understand why they are mistakes, and perhaps the game becomes so much easier to play.

There's still no reason not to live by the basic idea that we should treat others as we would wish them to treat us. Even if we all just did that, with no other dogma, doctrine or ideology at all, just this one thing, the world would be a better place IMO.

  14. This guy ^.
Yes religion leads only to hate, homophobia, bigotry, and war. Wait that's not all. Even though god is so bountiful in riches he needs more of our money in church. I love it how they shove the offering plate in the beginning of service. If you put nothing in you are almost looked down on.

  15. I do wonder this all the time just the whole aspect of where you go after death. I have made this up in my mind .

    - you die and everything in your live up to the point has been with little to no regrets and you die in peace , no stone left unturned or unfinished business -

    *result*
Your soul goes to a peaceful place , while your body rots slowly

    --------

-you die , in a sudden way and you have no many things left undone , so much you wanted or " needed " to accomplish, maybe a family you were making and always worried about. To the point of before death you knew there was something you had to do or somewhere you needed to be . Your soul was not at peace . -

    *result*
Your soul can not be at peace so it wonders the earth , maybe in the places you lived and had your life. You continue to watch over your family and continuously walk around wondering with the unfinished things on your mind. You simply can never let go until you reach a point in that new existence of peace your soul does not move on. Until you let it.

    ----
Anyway that is kind of how I've pictured death. That's why I try to live every day like it's my last. I laugh with my wife and we plan and future and smoke as much as we can and travel and just try to enjoy life. Even when we struggle we try to find peace because we simply do not know which day will be our last. I try to live with no regrets though I know I would be lost without her.

  16. All religions lead to the revelation that there is in fact, no God.

'God' is only Being...Existence Itself..the 'I Am" in self-realization terms....it IS us and in us,

It is Conscious Awareness fueled by Energy. Man is only here to be and do...the doing is how we learn. The being is

how we learn what'I Am' actually means. Just enjoy it.

  18. All points lead to a common destination: inferior and diluted thought.

  19.  Until you truly grow up imo...not talking about age
