Coco And Ebbflow?

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by Aqua Terra, Sep 23, 2014.

  1. High! Has anyone ran coco in cloth pots on an ebb&flow before? No root exposure, confined in the coco.

It would work, but you lose the primary benefit to F&D in the first place. F&D uses clay balls because the available oxygen is huge. Coir holds on to way too much water to justify its use in F&D. Instead of flooding every few hours it would be more like every few days. It would basically be an automated watering system. But the plants benefit from being tested to see if it needs watering before it gets it

I use coco in a F&D setup with great results, though I don't use the cloth pots. I water/feed once per day on Mon, Wed, Fri when they are seedlings, once they get bigger they get watered/fed every day for five minutes. I plan to use the cloth pots and think they would work great, I would have used them for my current grow but my local shop didn't have any at the time...

Turns out I'm not so hot at staying current with the journaling. I'll try harder. Here are some pics to update progress. ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1417973764.904980.jpg
Filing out here. They are a bit crowded from vegging too long and more experience needed in general.

  5. oh yah my grow room is that size too

  6.
You didn't go with flood and drain in the end then? Looks like top feed / auto irrigation. Is it run to waste or recirculating?

It is flood and drain and they feed three times a day and res change once a week. It's an inherited system and it has me scratching my head. It's working for now I guess. We'll see!

How do you manage to flood in cloth pots? Don't they leak?

Yeah that's the stuff, a bit cheaper over hear though at about £7 a litre, £20 for 5 litres. But still worth it in my opinion, I love the stuff

  9. The trays they sit in are flooded.
