I've been a student of LEDs since getting hosed 4+ years ago buying a R/B ufo 90 after seeing a full page ad in High times. Another life lesson about what is likely to happen when making an uneducated buying decision- kiss $360 goodbye. It works to this day, but for mood lighting

However, I believed that LEDs were the future and quickly learned that the vast majority of led panels being sold were not deveoped/designed for the unique lighting requirements of mj

Thousands of others not knowing this also helped pave the road to good intentions (quality mj meds), a international super highway lined with the carcasses of worthless cheap junk led panels. Even if they work, they lack the spectral balance and intensity mj needs to fill out, fatten up and produce high quality meds

I have taken up the charge to help others not make my mistakes. While doing threads on several grow sites, on one, about 5 months ago an unknown poster began critiquing the BML SPYDR 600 ($999, which is out of reach for many, including myself) that I was provided to report on. FYI It gets returned after I complete a full grow

Well, I knew going in the BML design was compromised for mj, but was allowed to choose my own spectrums, creating one panel for both veg and flower. The light has performed extremely well for ~ 350w. It has a max 3 x 3 footprint but is capable of covering up to 4 x 4. At the time I only had a 2 x 4 DIY tent, but the 6 bars that comprise the SPYDR 600 can be collapsed to 2ft. The 3 ft spine hung beyond the frame up above

Anyway, after several PMs wherein I explained how I got to test the S600 and was not otherwise affiliated with BML, this unknown poster turned out to be the brains and $$$ behind Amare Tech. He too understands that R/B panels are not what mj wants. Oh, she'll adapt, but bad mutations are ~ 2 generations behind. Also, people have reported eye problems staring under R/B panels. Good thing we have Obama Care. lol

    Fast Forward

This past Thursday 2 Amare Tech Solar Spec panels showed up (SS 100 & SS 260)

I will be reporting on the SS 100 (soon to be replaced to me wth 2 SS 150s). The SS 100 will be used to raise my seedlings the best of which will go under the SS 260 and the SPYDR 600. Not exactly a side-by-side as the S600 has ~ 25% more watts, but the SS 260 has a huge edge in umoles/m^/sec, but the S600 actual dimensions are 3  x 3, the SS260 12 x 18, but said to even cover 2 x 3. No doubt, it will be interesting

The SS 100 replaced 2 white ufos = ~ 100w that had been lighting 8 seedlings and some clones. The clones were languishing, but the seedlings were doing good.

I replaced both ufos with the SS 100. The difference is night and day. One clone now has roots

3rd pic is just prior to replacing the ufos with the SS 100

  3. Tip, which one are you getting?

The babies are loving the SS 100

3 clones now have roots, where they had none under the 2 ufos

    New pics tomorrow

  4. I gt the mars II 1200 watt

I hooked up the SS 100 on the afternoon of 9/18

    6th day update

PPMs have been ~ 200 throughout

I had to raise the light on the 19th as lower leafs were yellowing due to intensity

At that time I had 3 clones, none of which had roots after ~ 2 weeks under the 2 ufos

    I am lovin this light

I refer to it as The Lttle Engine That Could

How much longer before I can safely transfer to the SS 260?

  6. I am noticing that the pre SS 100 leafs on all plants affected are slowly dying

Perhaps they grew only as strong as the light intensity they were under, and since the SS 100 is so much more intense, it was too much for them and they could not adapt

    Anybody?

Plants are doing great under the SS 100

May well be sufficient to go from it directly to the 260, making for an awesome tag team (perpetual) set up

The young plants will be ready to move under the big tents by Wednesday, or thereabout

While I would like to move the reveg under the anticipated arrival of 2 x 150s, to the 2 x 4 (thus freeing up the tent with the SPYDR 600), that tent lacks height- only 5ft tall

BE AWARE that F & D  requires the tray drain to be higher than the rez when full in order to drain back fully, and the rez needs to be deep enough to not go dry throughout the feed cycle

I would need to raise the 2 x 4 up 2 feet which would require ~ 2 stacked concrete blocks per corner. Doable, but, I may just order a taller 2 x 4 tent

    Pics tomorrow

  8. I've been using the red button 1-2 hours each day to help stretch the plants a little

The main stalks are getting bigger

Most are now pushing up the 4th node: Big Mex is pushing 6th. Close up is her (hopefully).

Last go-round one BM that I thought was female turned out to be male

  9. Due to a major tent failure, I moved the babies to the SS 260 tent upstairs

Crappy tent was purchased from ledwholesalers. I had several crashes with the cross member connectors that hold the light, but the corner connectors? What a piece of crap

I came down this morning to find 2 of the upper frame corner connectors (3 way) had broken, collapsing the tent under virtually no weight

Here they are under the SS 260 some 4ft away to begin acclimating them to 2xs+ the intensity and power

FYI: Milliard tents (Amazon) come with 4 hanging poles and FREE SHIPPING

2 poles hang below the shorter two for added strength

Panels should be attached to the 2 upper poles
    :metal:

  12. Subbed, I'd like to see that spyder in action.
I'm a avid DIY'er. I'm now looking into some 80w cobs to mount in can lights. The spectrum on a 3oooK in about perfect for flowering.

The SPYDR is not mj specific, but you can choose your own spectrums

It's probably best suited for 2 x 3. When the 6 bars are spread out, the umole patch shrinks quite a bit

    2 Solar Spec 150s should do a better job covering 2 x 3-4

As long as you now what you're doing, DIY is kewl

I don't, but I understand a little bit about it.

There are a couple very good DIY COB threads elsewhere

    Search for them

In the mean time, hope you follow along

  14. Nice

I think all of us have gotten hit buy the crappy tent. I had a tent that would kill anything moved in it. and i bought it with the purpose of late flower :) great to see caution in the grow; I was going to say your lights are too high but they are not obviously you learn from experience. Really liking your clones is that just an air pot over a stone with a bottle on top?

I like it I am pulling up a chair and lighting a bowl

  15. I air out my tents outside in the sun and moon for 48 hours before bringing inside to assemble

The SS panels have ~ twice the intensity of most led panels

Minimum of 30" until the plants get acclimated, then slow drops

Thee were only a couple clones in the air pot, the rest are happy seedlings

When pulling the clones out today to put i individual net pots, the root ball completely broke off one, leaving me with one clone

NBD as the seedlings are outgrowing it anyway. Plus, most likely some of them are the same pheno- BBCC

    Pics tomorrow

  16. My mars II works wonderfully!
