Coconut Cannaoil W/ Bud Cook Time?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by EJB10, Sep 21, 2014.

  1. I've been making coconut cannaoil with high-CBD bud for about 8 months now. Everything has been great, but my last batch didn't seem as effective as previous batches, so I decided to revisit BadKitty's thread to re-read her excellent tutorial.

On rereading BKS's tutorial and various other tutorials, I again noticed there was a huge difference in cooking/steeping times. BKS calls for decarbing plus about 90 minutes of cook time total. Other people swear by a 12 hour cook time, and quite a few others call for longer cook times when using a crockpot (I use a sealed mason jar in a crockpot full of water).

Optimal cook time has always been a point of confusion for me, so I was wondering what the wonderful community here has read/experienced WRT cooking/steeping whole bud in coconut oil. Ideally, I'd love to find info from someone who's tested the oil at different points during a long cook to find the optimal cooking time.

What say you, my fellow Cannalovers?
