First Timer, Going Good But Have An Issue

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by pattylz11, Sep 20, 2014.

  1. Ok guys, so brief background...found some blue dream seeds in a batch months ago, and figured what the hell, lets give this a shot.  Originally the plant was outside but due to weather where I am, I potted it and brought it inside, and it perked up and has been going strong up until about 2 weeks ago some, not all, of the leaves have been looking shriveled, discolored, and I guess almost burnt looking.

Would love some experienced grower help on this one....thanks.

Oh and when I see ones that look worse than this I have been clipping them off so the plant stops trying to waste energy and nutes to repair them and can keep growing.  Whether thats wrong or right, any and all advice is welcome.

    Thanks!

You have any more info... What's your set up like? Lights, fans, indoor or outdoor arrangement etc etc. Temp? Humidity? You only have the one bag seed or more growing? When was the last Time you watered? What kind of potting soil is being used? It's like going to a doctor... They need the systems & and to see what the results are... Make sense?

That doesn't tell me how hot or how cool the temp is... Nor humidity (important factors). Do you have more photos? Photos of your cfl set up? I still don't know quite enough...how old are they? How many are there? What size pots are they in... There's more variables involve than I think you realize. People can give you ideas based on little information and be so wrong you, neither know what happened. If you want to take a serious shot at it... Let us in on your plans... Photos photos, or more details... Take a look at my set up & see if you understand what info is useful in a plant diagnosis. Peace!!

  5. Gotcha, will post tn. Thanks so far

  6. Ok so they Blue Dream strain.   They are on the older side since i switched from outdoor to indoor.  outdoors they were struggling with climate, like really not growing so I potted them and started feeding them fox farm nutes and they sprung up.  They are just finishing week one of flowering light sched.

    5 gallon pots
    6 CFL's - 150 watt equiv - 4 2700k and 2 6500k
    Mylar lined walls
Box Fan on low blowing constantly
    12/12 light sched
    Temp around 70
Low humidity, theres a dehumidifier there.
Watering every 3 days or as needed, I judge by the dirt.

Its in a tight space so a full pic with fan and all is hard but heres what I got...

Overall 90% of the plant seems in good shape, just these leaf issues.

Between 72-76 is ideal, the closest to 75 is even better IMO, but from what I can tell from your photo... the tips look curled down, if the are down and dark green... It could be a nitrogen toxicity... Curled up or down can mean a few things, but you're getting a better view with your eyes vs camera pic. Check out this Cannabis deficiency chart... https://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=35318&pictureid=834101

It's been very helpful to me, and also when a close up photo is hard to get... You can also try forced flash on your device, may show more details. I'm subbed blade. Hope to see you progress.. Also feel free to post up a question or two on my thread to try to get more exp growers to give tips. Keep us updated. Peace!

  8. If that much of the plant is still healthy, just keep doing what your doing. You dont want to cause a problem if there wasn't really one in the first place.

  9. First off, thank you both for help, especially green knight, big help.

Based on the link i believe its a late stage zinc deficiency. Should i be worried and how can i correct this?

  10. how long you switched to 12/12? you feeding her?

I have yet to experience this deficiency yet, therefore can not tell you to worry or not. Usually any deficiency needs attention...

However, If you in fact believe it's a "Zinc Deficiency" according to what you can see & observe... Here's some info that "might" help:

    According to http://www.growweedeasy.com

    Problem:

Younger leaves start yellowing in between the veins. Leaf tips get discolored and start dying. the leaves will take a unique banded appearance and the plant will stop growing vertically. There will be much less space between new nodes, which will cause all the new leaves to start bunching together. If the plant is budding, it's flowers may start dying.

    Solution:

Flush your system with clean, pH'd water that contains about half the nutrients needed for the plant (including zinc, iron, and manganese). Watch to make sure that the problem starts to clear up on new growth within a couple of days.

    Leaf Color:

    Yellow Leaves - New Growth
    Yellowing Between Veins
    Mottling / Mosaic Pattern
    Leaf Symptoms:
Upper Leaves / Newer Growth Affected
    Leaf Tips Appear Burnt
    Leaf Tips Die
    Yellowing Between Veins
    Mottling / Mosaic
    Slow Growth
    Twisted Growth
    Leaves Curl Under
    Plant Symptoms:
    Slow Growth
    Leaves Curl Under
    Too Short

    Other Symptoms:
    Buds Not Fattening

Yep... It's got balls... It's a dude... Get it outta there right away if I were you & destroy it far from your garden. Be careful not burst any pollen sacks.. I wouldn't take any chances unless you plan to breed by saving the pollen :/ it happens. Sorry

  16. I woulda taken a couple sacs off and selectively pollinated a flower or two on each female, not having to buy seeds and being self sustainable does wonders for the soul =)

You can have this thread Loki. I have no interest competing, lol. Just remember a picture may tell a thousand words, but looking at the real thing for yourself will tell the truth... Everything else is speculation, or perspective. :D
