Seasoning A Ti Nail With Reclaim?

Discussion in 'Concentrate Tools' started by Asad32, Sep 19, 2014.

  1. So my 10mm glass nail broke already, I'm debating on ordering a domeless ceramic or picking up a titanium nail. I don't want to waste wax on seasoning! I do have a lot of reclaim built up in my Dabblr or Spubbler, but I'm not quite sure how to get it out. It's basically a bubbler attachment for a pen, here's the link: http://shop.drvapeproducts.com/The-Spubbler-SPUB.htm
I was thinking of filling it up with alcohol and shaking it until all the wax was somewhat dissolved enough to come out. But I'm not sure how long to wait for the alcohol to evaporate? Also what to keep the alcohol-wax mixture to let it evaporate? Would a small plastic cup work, or do you need a Pyrex dish? How much wax is needed to season and are there any ways without using a ton of wax but still gets the job done good?

  2. Heat up the alcohol for about 15 seconds in the microwave before washing it. Let it evaporate on the dish and then throw it in the oven at 250 or so to get out the rest of the alcohol. You only need a couple dabs worth of oil to season the nail.

Best way to do it IMO is the oven. Heat it to 400f and load a couple dabs worth of oil into the nail head pop it in the oven for about 20-30 minutes and it should be solid.

And stop calling it wax like that :p

  3. why wouldnt you just scrape out a couple dabs worth of reclaim and burn that on the nail? seasoning complete

Ahah sorry that's just what most people call it around where I live. I might pick up a 10mm domeless for 65, but I'm trying to find somewhere online cheaper. I've stumbled across this site http://wizardpuff.com/collections/titanium-ceramic-nails/products/10mm-domeless-ti-nail-female-joint and some nice prices on ioffer. The only thing I don't like is they don't say the grade of the titanium, but does the grade really matter if you season properly?

  5. dont buy Ti if you're not going to get something from a reputable company like HE, DYD, DnF etc

  6. What do you think about DabWorthy? http://grasscity.com/products/dabworthy-nano-10mm-universal-domeless-titanium-nail
This little guy can also fit on a 14mm and it claims it's grade 2. I also looked at their completely universal nail for 10mm, 14mm, and 18mm and it only said high grade titanium while this says grade 2..

  7. Get the he domeless and he carbcap. Dont fuck around with anything else and you will thank us later there is a reason everyone uses and recommends them

  8. Do you mean get the Dabworthy or just one in general?

  9. He means HE, Highly Educated. I don't know anything about those dabworthy nails, that's the first I've heard of them personally

  10. im not sure if there are other safe grades but ive only ever heard of grade 2 being a safe titanium to use. IMO when i company says "high grade" it seems like their trying to get around saying its not grade 2. I could be wrong thats just what it makes me think. Why wouldnt you wanna advertise its G2 lol?

  11. Would you guys trust this site? Same company(Dabworthy) and authorized dealer, says in the title and the description that it's grade 2? http://www.headwholesale.net/products/dabworthy-v2-10mm-domeless-titanium-nail-male-female-14mm-compatible.html

  12. I think you've gotten the answer plenty of times.

Are you really looking for an answer? Or just someone to agree with you as a form of justification for not wanting to get a good TI nail.

If $ is an issue go with a cheap quartz nail. Better than exposing you lungs to dangerous chemicals.

If your going with TI get a trusted company/brand.

  13. Thanks for all the replies! Now I just need to get the reclaim out of my piece. I was gonna heat up alcohol in a microwave-save bowl(idk for how long?) and then put it in a bag with the piece and shake until all the oil is out. How long will it take to evaporate if I use an oven? Idk how long or at what temperature tho? Also what type of container could I put the reclaim-alcohol stuff into? I feel like a Pyrex dish would spread it out so much and it would just be all spread out. What could I use that's smaller but will still hold it all?

  14. first idk how big your piece is but i usually just pour the iso into the piece itself and shake it up. Also i microwave my iso for about 15 seconds or give it a hot water bath in the container. Idk if i would put it in a plastic bag, being as plastic is far from inert. Also you want something a large as possible to spread it out on to evaporate (pyrex dish), once all the alchohol has evaped throw it in a 250 degree oven for a cpl then scrape it with a razor blade

  15. IPA comes in a plastic bottle..

15-20 seconds should be all you need. You don't evaporate in the oven, you let it evaporate outside or something and only put it in the oven once the liquid is gone

  16. How long does it normally take to evaporate? Would I just leave it open?

  17. depends on temperatures an how much you have. and like stated above, use a wider dish if possible because the increased surface area will speed up the process. I like to put the pyrex dish on a warm griddle outside on my back porch to evaporate it quicker.

  18. how much time do you have. jimmy i believe it was you who told me about this but I'm not sure.you could hang you piece upside down so all the water drains out, make sure all the water is comply drained and your rig is dry, then put it in the oven upside down with a pyrex dish below. just sit there and watch it all come down...

Yeah I did say that at one point. I let my rig sit for like 4 days though, make sure it's entirely dry or steam could crack it. Also don't do it if it's a headier piece with attachments like mibs or opals cause they could pop off or crack if not welded on good enough. I did it with a clear jedeye recycler so it had no attachments.

Be careful with your glass :)
