  1. Hello Everyone,

I am completely new to medicating and all of today's terminology and sophisticated equipment. I used to casually smoke mj in College and back then in 2004, I never heard of dabbing and concentrates and never knew about these fancy bongs and their attachments. I'm sure it was out there, just wasn't too much into it back then.

Fast forward 10 years, I got a rec with my fiancee 3 months ago, ever since, we have been medicating daily after work in the late evening. It helps us relax and get a good night's sleep since we get up at 5am daily to get ready for work and take out our dogs to walk and do their duty.

On to the point, I bought a cheap $30 dollar bong at my local smokeshop. It's a simple beaker design, nothing fancy. I enjoy using it, but prefer to roll joints or blunts or use my Davinci from time to time. I have been lurking the forums for about 2 weeks now and doing research on all these different bongs and perculators and honey combs and all these crazy attachments with legs and arms and pre filters on the stem. IT'S OVERWHELMING! I have no clue what I'm looking at sometimes or how it even works.

I've come across a few bongs that I wanted to show you guys to get your feedback on how they perform and how will they differ from the cheap ass bong I currently use.

Was also looking at that interesting last piece, the pre cooler. Looks great, is it functional and worth that much money? I'd probably be getting a cheaper one though. If someone can please chime in with the pros and cons of the bongs I listed and which one I should go with? I don't fully understand how the new ones with all these attachments and legs work, or where to even put the water in since I see multiple chambers.

Also, because we have been smoking daily, I have been looking into something stronger and more hallucinogenic. I've been looking at dabbing. I'm looking into an oil rig, I was looking into just buying the attachments for my 12" cheap bong, but I read on here that it's not recommended, I'll be tasting a lot of resin. It's best to buy a smaller dedicated oil rig. The smaller the better apparently, because it taste better. Is there an oil rig you guys recommend for say, 3-4 days a week of use? I'm not looking for expensive, but I also don't want cheap either. Also looking at quartz nails over anything else because I hear they taste better. You have to season it though, what the hell does that even mean???

I know it's a lot to read and several questions and probably stupid to you, but this is all new to me, I don't have friends who are into this, and it's just me and my lady who got into this and we keep this to ourselves since we don't want family finding out or friends.

Thank you all for your help, I'll continue doing research and hopefully with your guys' help, I'll buy some decent rigs for flowers and concentrates.

One more question, anyone ever use their Davinci vape for concentrates???? I have one, but only have used it for flowers. I'll be honest, it gets me really high when I vape, but I absolutely hate the taste it gives off. Reminds me of old dried leaves from my tree in the backyard or even wet freshly cut grass. It's gross. And no my herbs are not crap, I buy good quality meds and they're great when smoked, but not so great when vaped. Unless that's just normal and how it is supposed to taste.

  2. First thing to realize is that more percs doesn't necessarily mean better. That precooler, combined with either of those bongs, would be overkill. An abundance of percs will create too much drag, which means by the time the smoke fills the chamber, your remaining lung capacity will be too low to clear the tube. Some drag isn't necessarily bad- it's all preference, but no one wants too much.

There are pros and cons to both of the pieces you showed. They're both stemless, which most people prefer- there's less to clean and there's only one joint, so drag is minimized. They both have ice pinches, so you can put ice in both to cool the smoke. Not all bongs have these features.

In terms of cons, while they both have two percs, many people consider trees outdated (is that what you mean by legs?). They're more draggy than newer styles. Also, no-name brands, in addition to cheaper name brands, are likely to be made from lower quality boroscillate glass- "China glass." Cheaper glass is more likely to have imperfections that impact performance or durability- they'll tip over easier and the joints will be thin, making them susceptible to breaking. The glass on glass connections won't seal as tight, etc. In terms of quality, you generally get what you pay for. Some people disagree on that, but that's a different matter.

For concentrates, I use a connector from Healthstone Glass cause I don't like having a blowtorch laying around.

  3. The ten arm perc is outdated? Hmmmm to me it seemed all modern, but I'm new to this so what do I know.

So is that less expensive Black Leaf China glass?

What do you recommend for me then? Thank you again, for your help!!

Btw, ever use a davinci? I tried vaping hash and it just melted and made a mess. It's a pain to clean it off that oil can.

Ten arm percs are indeed outdated and often create excessive drag, especially on china glass, yes. Black Leaf is low quality. What is your budget so I can work with you?

  5. I'm trying to keep it at $120 or less. Trying to also invest in a decent oil rig. Any suggestions would be awesome!!

    Thank you
