Considering Dropping Out Of College

Discussion in 'Real Life Stories' started by Darth_Mal, Sep 19, 2014.

  1. Honestly, college is just becoming a hassle and im tired of being broke all the fucking time. I have to pay huge amounts of money for books we barely use, financial aid is fucking annoying, and i just feel all my classes are irrelevant. And its only community college so theres not alot there to begin with. Everything about college is making me want to shoot myself. Im thinking of just getting a 2nd job and work until i can afford a car and just go to a trade school for either nursing or computers.
Sorry about the rant, just alot on my mind.

JESUS GOT SHOT IN THE FACE

  2. Get the books illegally online for free. Stay 8in college... if you're going to trade school after you dropout then I guess it's not a big deal but think about your future. I hated highschool but am glad I went through it.

    I dropped out of college

No regrets, went the trade route. Eventually they will pay for my HVAC power engineering courses.

Now a days college means nothing.

  6. Leave before you end up with a debt so big you cant pay it.

  7. What can you non degreers do that people with degrees can't?

If you're smart, you'll stay in school.

  8. Listen if your under 24 and you get a low income rate than you can try and go to school at this technical school called job corps. They are for people with little to no income. The school is free to go to they supply you with everything and believe it or not they give you a small allowance for going to there.

You can either live there or you can stay where your at now. They have campuses all over America. If you are interested look it up they are called job corps.

And just to let you know ahead of time you'll have to give up smoking weed about 3-4 months ahead of time because they drug test.

  9.
Enjoying youth and escaping massive arbitrary debt would be two things that spring to mind.

If you're smart, you'll think for yourself.

  10. Sounds like you have a plan OP. If you think you would prefer trade school look into it before you leave your current school. Whatever path you take just make sure you do your due diligence and research your choices.

For starters, I would look into what dropping out would end up costing you financially. See if dropping out affects future borrowing for education loans. You'll possibly still need loans for trade school. You don't want to drop out and kick yourself later for not knowing the future impact.

I went to college, but I'm not one to say you need an education or that an education is worthless. Make yourself marketable to employers anyway you can. Today there are a million ways to make it, but employers are becoming ever more picky in who they hire. Good luck!

  11. College kids life>>>non college kids life

That's non collegiates always go to college parties, because they're simply better than non college parties.

  12. U said it urself u don't need to go to college to go to college parties lol

Idk what point u were trying to make.

Some of us don't have or want mom & dad to pay tuition for us to get laid.

  13.
    start a business.

  14. I would at least take one class a semester. Like a core class that you need for your peice of paper. You don't want to loose the school mentality. I went back after ten years of not going and I was like what the fuck
Plus school is a great place to meet chicks good ones not scanks lol

  15. Anyone can throw a good party if they want to, been to 'college' parties and 'non college' parties.  I get laid more at 'non college' parties...tend to like them more.

Sorry OP, no help from me.

  16. every time i see the landscappers and constrution works in my sub im reminded of why im in college. Go to college so you can pick a job you wont hate.

  17.
college grads don't hate their jobs?

  18. i wont. if you pay money, to go school, and pick a job your gonna hate thats your own damn fault. ima firm believer that if your going to be doing it for the bulk of your life you should enjoy it, if you didnt enjoy the place you went to for 5 days a week for 40 years you wasted your fucking life. I love computers and video games so im in school for computer science. taking programming classes and art courses so i can get into the industry.

  19.
what job will you have straight out of college that you won't hate?

  20. i dont even hate my job now man. and pretty much everyones starter job in the industry is QA tester, so basically sitting at a desk playing a game, over and over, looking for bugs. not the most exciting job in the world but not something id hate considering ive already played in more aplhas and betas then i can count and generally loved them all. ive already talked to two local developers about internships as well. if you dont like your job, its usually your fault. you have to admit if your willing to but in the effort to find your place and learn the skills you can find a job youll like that will make enough money to support you, no matter what your interests are.
