Own A Mercedes? Sorry, But You Are Not Being Christian.

Discussion in 'Religion, Beliefs and Spirituality' started by Julius Caesar, Sep 18, 2014.

  1. Acts 4:32-35
    New International Version (NIV)

All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had. With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God's grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.

Jesus and the twelve apostles started the first "hippie commune." If your lifestyle is anything but spartan, you need to reevaluate your religious identity.

  4. Yeah what about my jeep? It only costed $68,000 less than my mom's mercedes, do I have to share that too?

  5. Yeah, and if you read the Bible then you're probably not Christian either.

  6. You make no sense to me. Maybe it's me but... What does a Mercedes have to do with it? I don't think Jesus cares what kind of car you drive as long as you give someone a lift if they need it. :)

  7. So true!! The Buddhist book that someone wrote (I dunno who but I know the awesome Buddhist dude wrote a book) anyway it wasn't in a language that anyone knew. It was his own dialect. So when the thing was translated it actually said nothing of the sort that the original dude said. So now we have this dang bible that's been translated over and over and over it's ignorant to believe it's correct word for word. And what if a man that wrote some for it was a crazy man out of his mind? It could happen! But these people use it and claim it's the holy word when no one even knows the truth. If people believe the bible than they would read the part that god said everyone has a personal relationship with him. Dammit! It's personal, no one could say what should or shouldn't be, when god said himself, in that "holy book" that each relationship is different.
Sorry to quote you Lazytoker and go off on some tyrate ( I don't know if that's even a word) :D but yeah! You're right! LOL!! ;)

  8. Not enough people are aware of this little passage. It demonstrates the nonsensicalness of the existing correlation between Christianity and capitalism. That passage clearly demonstrates that Jesus and the early disciples were basically communist.

I think Jesus would prefer you buy a much cheaper car and use the money for food, clothing, ect for the needy.

I can't read the OP's mind, but I'm sure that's roughly the point

  12. I dont think anyone alive today who calls themselves Christian would fit Jesus' teachings.

Ignoring that its disputed if there ever was a Jesus of Nazareth...

  13. What about an old piece of shit Mercedes? You could get a running one for under 3 grand.

  17. Well first of the OP is using the NIV which is the bible basically in layman's terms. The KJV is a little more accurate but from translations over time, its true messages are up to interpretation.

  18. Back when I was a catholic I was taught that "though shall not steal" implied that you should not live in excess and just have only your needs. Something like having 2 pairs of shoes meant you sinned.

  19. looks like my wife is doomed "Doomed" i tell yee

  20. Tell her to go on her knees and beg for forgiveness for the rest of her life and she may have a greater chance in  entering the holy kingdom than a camel entering the eye of a needle.
