Help With Quitting Weed

Discussion in 'Pandora's Box' started by Imnotthatfunny, Sep 18, 2014.

  1. Hi everyone. I've come to conclusion for my life to be better I must stop smoking weed. I honestly have an addictive personality and I let smoking become a habit. I've been a heavy smoker for a year and a half or so. I need some advice because today was my first day being completely sober and I barely had an appetite today I got really irritable at the smallest things. I don't even wanna imagine what going to sleep tonight will feel like. How long will these withdrawal symptoms last? Any tips to overcome these feelings? Thanks for any support. I appreciate it and really need it. Thanks.

  2. give it 2 week, you'll be perfectly fine ;)

  3. Yea 2 weeks is the maximum. It can go much faster too.

    • Keep busy
    • Plenty of exercise to work up an appetite and help alleviate symptoms
    • Try some relaxation techniques you can search online (stuff like meditation, listening to calming music etc.)
    Good luck! :)

you are in the wrong place to ask. i have been smoking for the past 15 years or so, and many people here have been smoking for much longer than that, with no desire to quit.

give away weed to your friends, smash all your pieces, etc

  5. Just hang in there and accept that you're going to have a few uncomfortable days.   If you can accept that you'll be fine.

  6. Get some wine or beer, that'll take the edge off.

Just keep away from it for 3-4 days. After that, it'll be easy. Also make sure you're not tempted. Don't have any weed, don't have any way to get weed. Make sure your friends don't offer it to you. Without the temptation, you'll realize that the desire is all in your head. There's very little to no evidence that marijuana is nearly as physically addictive as, say, tobacco or other unmentionables

    Happy toking!

  8. lol at "Withdrawal symptoms"........ I went Through Dt's from alcohol and I can say your lost of appetite is weak sauce

  9. I went Into an out patient rehab for 10 weeks because of shit that happened with the law.
What happened to me was the first week- about the 3rd week was the toughest part. I had a hard time sleeping, and days felt longer than they are. I got irritable. I did keep myself occupied though and that helped a lot. Find something you love to do and keep doing that. If it's something you did high though stay away from it or you'll just wana smoke and do that hobby.
For example some video games I play high so I stayed away from video games for the 10 weeks. I love skiing and luckily it was still winter when I went into the program so I was skiing every chance I got and at home I would hangout with family or just go for random walks.
After 10 weeks I felt better than I ever had. And I was actually thinking about taking another t-break soon.
But goodluck and Don't give up on being sober it's tough to do but just stay strong an you'll get through the hard times!

You mostly just have to wait it out.

  11.
It will get better after a few days. I made the decision about a month and a half ago to get clean so I could look for a decent job and legitimately pass a drug test. It sucked for the first few days. I was in a bad mood and had trouble sleeping, but it all passed. I've been applying everywhere and have a few things lined up, so hopefully I'm working soon.

Can't wait to hit the bong for the first time...this is the first real T break I've ever had.

  12. It was pretty easy for me when I took breaks....keep busy n work out. Hang out w friends...jus gotta keep ur mind busy

  13. That is not withdrawal. Lmfao.

  14. alot of good information in this thread for you OP

  15. You ever suck dick for weed?jK u will be ok

  16. I have.
    Omega watched.

  17. This.

    Become an alcohol OP.
Then stop. A little bit of booze withdrawal will make your reefer withdrawal seem like child's play.

  18. Here's some tips: for the first few days stay occupied! Always have something to do. Also, eat only your favorite foods. And although I haven't tried this, and if you don't have anything to do the next day, just don't go to sleep. Stay up all night and you'll eventually get tired the next day/night.

  20. I was not recommending that he become an alcoholic, lol, just have a little nip to take the edge off of not having weed.  I personally don't drink hardly at all, it doesn't appeal to me and it conflicts with my BP medicine, but I've used it once in a while in the past without any problems.
