Investigators said the pair posed with their marijuana plants, then put the photos on the Internet for the world to see, including the Sheriff's Department. In a flash and a click of a button, there was picture perfect evidence for police. "An individual had posted on Facebook some marijuana plants," said Sheriff Colan Harrell. The Sheriff said 20-year-old Tony Canada and his father, 45-year-old Ronald Canada, were standing next to the plants. Harrell said even he was surprised to see the post. "This is the first time I have ever seen this," said Harrell. Still, when deputies got a tip to check social media, they didn't hesitate. They said around a day after investigators saw the pictures on Facebook, the photos along with another tip, led them to Clifford Canada Road. "I had never heard of anybody putting anything like that on Facebook before," said a neighbor who wanted to remain anonymous. People in the area watched deputies on Friday as they scoured the land near Clifford Canada Road. Investigators said Tony Canada showed deputies where the plants were located and told them the plants were being grown by him and family members. "Located 14 marijuana plants, the tallest one being approximately 13 feet tall," said Harrell. In all, investigators said they recovered around $30,000 dollars worth of drugs. Then, they told the Canadas how they got caught. "They agreed that wasn't a real smart thing to do," said Harrell. While it doesn't make much sense, neighbors said they hope these two learned their lesson. "They shouldn't have had it, they ought to know better. I bet they won't do that again," said a neighbor. Investigators said if the father and son do plan to break the law again, then the Sheriff welcomes more pictures online. "If they have anything of contraband, put it on the Facebook again. We make house calls," said Harrell. The Whitley County Sheriff's Department said they are working on warrants to arrest two other men involved in this case. LEX 18 News asked Ronald Canada if he or his son wanted to tell their side of the story, however they declined.

Remember, kids, no amount of waving your dick around on Facebook is worth the potential legal and employment problems it can cause I feel for anybody doing time due to drug prohibition (and they will, that many plants is a felony in KY), but damn! At a certain point, you're just inviting trouble! The best rebellion is to do what you want, and stay under the radar while doing so. Clinton county is good growing country too, I used to live just east of there! Even if weed was legal, you're still going to get moochers begging you for free bud if you put pics of your plants on public display you might even get people trying to steal them!

I want to feel bad because nobody should have to go through that over a plant, but really what the hell were they thinking was going to happen? If you are a grower, never get comfortable just because you might have been doing it for a while, always follow the proper precautions, for your own protection! But yeah these guys don't sound too bright.
