Ok so i have 1 5 gal DWC going. Last DWC grow I had heat issues so I came up with this. I put the 5gal DWC bucket inside another tub filled 1/4 way of water. And twice a day I change out ice packs in the big tub. This has helped my cooling very much. But now I have mold growing inside the tub water. What can I put in the tub water to kill any mold from growing?
The big tub water never goes into the nutrient reservoir right? Just double checking because Id say a good dose of bleach or H2O2 ought to clear that right up, I think http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1329219-My-2Nd-Real-Grow-Attempt%2C-W--Pics%21-Bubble-Cloner-clone-Machine%2C-Dwc
Bleach! Of course! No the water from the tub never goes into my nutrient reservoir. The tub is simply a cooling system to cool the reservoir
Genius! I may look into doing the same ASAP if this ridiculous heat in socal keeps up. http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1329219-My-2Nd-Real-Grow-Attempt%2C-W--Pics%21-Bubble-Cloner-clone-Machine%2C-Dwc
I wonder if u put an airstone on a pump in that secondary tub if it would help combat mold from forming "Don't let the past remind us of what we are not now." 1000 watt Scrog Journal
Dude, DWC is GREAT - for some people, in some places. If you're having trouble controlling temps, then DWC is not the best choice for you. It only works excellent when the proper conditions can be met. If you can't keep your temps under 70F, then another method would work so much better for you. I would suggest coco, hempy buckets, or flood and drain. Any of these are not nearly as sensitive to nutrient temps like DWC!! The reason so many hydro systems exist is because everyone has a different requirement. Don't think that DWC is the end-all-be-all for hydroponics. You're creating more problems for yourself trying to work around a characteristic of that system, than switching to a system that will work for your environment. Cheers, Past
