couldn't I grow using 75% miracle-gro potting mix 25% perlite if I used the miracle-gro cactus plant food a couple times in veg and consintantly during the flowering stage considering it's npk value is 2-7-7.

because the soil is either .21/.11/.16 or .15/.3/.8 so the cactus plant food could even it out pretty well regardless of wich of the 2 values the soil really is as long as I follow the directions on the cactus food.

  2. Sounds perfect to me! Please keep us posted as to the results.

cool thanks for replying i'm not gonna grow until the start of next year though sometime between January-feburary. its gonna be a 24"x25"x58" enclosed grow area, im gonna be growing 4 auto fem's (2) auto white widow seeds pyramid brand, and (2) auto amnesia haze vision seeds. The seeds are main reason why I have to start grow at begging of next year (broke and jobless). I'm gonna be using a 135w apollo led that runs at 90w I already got that sitting around it's gonna be on for 12 hours a day and then im gonna run 45-55w's of 2700k cfl for 6hr's to conserve electricity. plants will rest/sleep for 6hr's I got a outlet timer already. i'm hoping to get about a half an oz of bud per plant. Oh and I can take a 8 mile drive to get fox farm ocean forest soil but i'll probally just shit around with my soil idea anywho.

1 gallon planting pots, not gonna use a fan, got 250ppm colloidal silver to try to breed the white widow with the amnesia haze

  4. Dude...Jerry is messing with you.

My suggestion is to post this up for the 'chem' growers or try to grow organically. All of us are organic growers over here and we despise Miracle- Gro. I'm assuming this is your first grow?

  5. Make it easy on yourself and don't "shit around" with the miracle-gro stuff. Instead take take the eight mile drive, buy four 5 gallon pots, two bags of ocean forest soil and use water only for the entire cycle. Auto strains don't require much food cause they don't get very big. Ocean forest soil will have plenty....final product will taste and smell better and will be better for your health.

Ocean Forest in my opinion is in the same boat as miracle-gro... I wouldn't advise either. I constructed my first organic soil last year, and my word is my bond on this... THERE IS NOTHING BETTER! Using the same soil this year, and my babies have never looked so healthy. Inthegarden's soil building thread is the best start you'll get, that's as Real Deal Holyfield as it gets... Go there and you will be a winner in time.

I'm with you on that one LeftHandLead, I also build my own soils and have been recycling them for  three plus years. I was trying to suggest  the easiest route that would work for him without the use of chemical food... :smoke:

Thanks for commenting this would be my first grow and I live with my parents so I have to sneak the soil in. I'm gonna have to use the 1 gallon planting pots for at least the first grow. I live in the upstairs and no one comes up here so i'm gonna try to grow in my walk-in closet. I think I can pull it off, anywho if you know a good organic soil I can make using walmart lowes or this place the 8 mile drive topgardenproducts.com u can go ahead and tell me but im trying to make 16-20 qt's of soil for $25 or less.

Oh and would 6 hours of 45w 2700k cfl do much in a 4 sq foot grow area or should I make sure to use 55w's of mixed spectrum instead (32w 2700k and 23w 6500k cfl)

To make sure there electricity bill won't raise. I'm gonna watch 5 hours less of tv a day which runs at 140w's. Turn off my directv cable box when the tv's not on so 17 hr's off. It runs at 25w's and i'm gonna switch out my 60w incandescent room light with a 13w cfl.

  9. I don't think you should grow in your parents house if they don't allow it

  13.
    care to elaborate on that?

i don't think OF has green time release chemical balls in it last time i checked.

you can't compare the two soils..

home made is best by far, but putting FFOF and MG soil in the same category is outrageous.

umm will miracle-gro potting mix mixed with 25% perlite be too hot for seedling stage I really dont want to kill any plants becuz im only ordering 8 fem auto's (5 white widdows, 3 amnesia haze, and comes with free cheese candy auto fem) and or would fox farm ocean forest mixed with 25% perlite be any gentler. Oh and does anyone know the ph on the miracle-gro I'm not gonna get a ph tester or up down solution. I can flush the soils a couple times before grow if that would help.

  15. Are you dead set on using the MG soil or are u open for options? There are just better alternatives for not much more dinero.

I'd use the FF before the MG but there are other options too.

    Options that actually work.

  16. if having to use commercial soil, look for something that says "seed starter" they have very little in the way of stuff to burn your babes hence the "seed starter or seedling soil". Try to avoid any brand names with "plus" in them, it usually means time release crap. But if you could start in seed starting soil, in like a small nursery tray have your mg or ff in your potter/bucket, and after the seedling sprouts dig a hole the size of your seedlings current home, gently turn babe over wiggle her whole soil mass and all out of the nursery starter and gently place in its new home with all that seed starter, it wont even know any better and you will get very little to no transplant shock. For your next grow do some reading on making a soil, you can go from seedling/cutting to harvest no worries of burns.
    Best of luck.

I'm open to more options as long as they don't require bottled nutes. I have to sneak the soil in the house so I need to stick to one soil build for entire grow, I might be able to be more elaborate for 2nd grow if everything goes according to plan.

Never mind I went ahead and got (2) 8qt bags of miracle-gro potting mix a 8 qt bag of miracle-gro perlite and a 8fl oz bottle of miracle-gro cactus plant food 2-7-7 npk. sneaking it in was sad though I looked my dad in the face when I snuk it in using my garbage can. anywho smoothe sailing from here just need cfl's the seeds from herbies autoflowering seeds website a extension cord roll of duct tape a 3 to 2 outlet adapter and a bath towel to line the floor of the grow area

  19. Holy shit habbo, you have yourself an uphill battle to say the least! Well if you're going through with it, get as many of those cfl's as you can. And if you're going to use that miracle- gro soil (which I think you should return and take the 8 mile drive and get ocean forest) I think you can scrap the cactus juice. Miracle-gro soil has a time release fertilizer added to it. (Those little green balls of pure evil!) I'm pretty sure you won't have to add anymore food through out the cycle. And also 6 hours of light isn't very much. Auto strains will flower even under 24 hours of light. Try to give them 12 hours a day minimum.
I guess one good thing about you doing this grow is that it'll get away from that tele for a while...maybe with that extra time you can get outside in the fresh air and sunlight. Vitamin D could be a good thing...I wish you luck...SW    PS and don't go gettin caught by your parents.
