Cat Ran Away...

Discussion in 'Pets' started by QQbunnies, Sep 15, 2014.

  1. So this past Wednesday morning while I was at work I get a text from my girlfriend saying that my cat pushed out the screen on my window and ran away. I left work at that point and drove home to help her look for him. With no avail we didn't find him. So for the past 5 days I've gone around the whole neighborhood putting up lost cat flyer's and going door to door offering up a 250 dollar reward for whoever finds him. I've also put in a lost cat report with animal control and the animal humane society. And I've gone out for long walks everyday looking for him.

I just feel so sad because he was my buddy, he slept with me every night and always met me at the door when I got home.

I wouldn't feel as sad as I do if he were and outdoor cat. He also doesn't have front claws so I don't know how he will hunt and find food...

If anyone can give me any insight that would be great

  3. I'm sorry, bro. That's a really sad thing to happen.

It's usually very difficult to find cats once they run away. Even if you happen to walk RIGHT next to them when they're hiding behind a tree, sometimes they remain hiding because of how scared they are. The only time my cat ran away I was freaking out too. I was walking around all over the place shouting out his name. I got lucky to see his tail sticking out from behind a tree. I was surprised that even though he was right next to me, he still was too afraid to come out. And my cat loves me to death, so it's not like he didn't come out because he doesn't like me.

Sometimes people get lucky though, and sometimes the cat randomly shows up days or weeks later. I've read stories like that.

    Good luck to you.

  4. Sometimes they come back home after a while. Hopefully, another animal lover picked him up and spoiled him rotten.

Then again, there are cars and coyotes. And he is not an outdoor cat. I only wish the best for your lil buddy.

  5. Sorry, At least you can still get some pussy!

  6. I once had a purebred German shepherd. He was all black head to toe , and the best smartest dog i have ever owned . Raised him until he was about 1 1/2 , took a mile walk with me everyday . One day i had him in my garage in his huge metal dog kennel with the garage door open. I went to smoke a bowl inside and came back out like 35 mins later. He either busted out or somebody stole him but nevertheless when i came out  he was gone . This was years ago and i still miss him all the time. I even quit smoking for a month because i thought if i didnt have to go inside and smoke he would still be here. Theres really nothing anybody can say that will bring your cat back or make this okay . But two things you should take from this are how short life is and to really embrace the time you have with everything you love because tomorrow it can be gone just like that , and especially Its not your fault sometimes things happen in life that are horrible and you have absolutely no control over.

I searched for 6 months straight , put up signs called every animal shelter for months . Even drove to every shelter within a 100 mile radius to look at every dog they had . I never found my dog. You just hope that somebody took your animal in , and for whatever strange reason it was meant to be and they give it a Great life. Maybe your cat is sitting in some old woman's lap who just lost her husband rolling a cat nip doobie eating a fresh can of tuna. I wish you the best though and i feel your pain.

  7. Thank you everyone for giving me some hope on finding Charlie. I really hope I find my little buddy.

  9. Still haven't found him but there is some hope. Yesterday when I gave a flyer to this guy he said his daughter thinks she saw him through the backyard earlier in the day. So hopefully that was Charlie

  11. Check under your house/porch if you have access.

Check under your neighbors as well. A girl down the street lost her cat and I found her just chilling under my neighbors porch.

Good luck man. I have two cats of my own.

It sounds horrible but cats often run away if they feel like they're going to die soon.

Also please don't declaw your cats it's quite cruel.

  13. My condolences

  14. I'm sorry man! That sux! Carlie probably will be more than alright though! Neighborhood cats often band together and search for food and protection so even if you don't find him there is that!

I wouldn't get your hopes too high up there it is hard to locate cats. I lost $1400 once if that makes you feel any better. Also have lost $600, $400 and $200 at once! :/

  15. I had a kitten run away once.

I bought a $100 racoon trap from Cabelas and put a bowl of food in there. 1 day later he was in there....granted this was a week after he ran away

  16. did you ever find him?

I have an indoor cat that likes to run away. she got out once for 3 days and a neighbor found her stuck in a tree. and she ran away for a couple days like a month ago and I found her at 4 am in a bush, so lucky.

  17. I'm really sorry to hear that, man, I own 2 cats myself, and reading your story made me really sad cause I kept thinking " what if this happened to one of my cats?!?! "

    Hang in there man...
