Honestly what is the point of a silent letter. U dont hear them, so y u need them. Some people say to distinguish words that sound same but then just make a diff word or something like that idk. Just a thought Smoke weed everyday!

We have silent letters, because "just a thought" means something very different from "just a thot". But why should a letter be judged on being silent? Maybe it has social anxiety, and is afraid to talk.
my name has silent letters in it. i dont mind it much. what i dont get is why does some words not even sound like they are spelled? lasagna? bologna? i mean we call it blony in my house, not bolagna haha
