Grow Box Assistance

Discussion in 'Do It Yourself' started by Timaeh, Sep 15, 2014.

  1. I need some help with my grow box, currently I have hollowed out some dresser draws, and put 250w of CFL, 125w blue spectrum and 125w red/flower spectrum, I have grown before in previous boxes, however this is a brand new build. I have a fully detachable door, which is currently put back on with tape, As I have attempted hinge-ing the door multipule times and failed, or snapped the wood. I need some help as to how to make my design work, currently you can see in the picture everything I have done. Seeds are currently in germination and i need ideas fast as well as cheap. I am a UK resident, so shops from the UK for purchases only, or amazon.co.uk. My target price is to keep it under £50.

I have a fan to put in, which is a 12cm pc fan attached to a mobile phone charger. Mainly I need help with covering up the light that is leaking from the bottom, as well as the top when the door is attached, and any other ideas that may be inspirational to add to my current design.

    Thanks in advance!

  2. You can get some weatherstripping, not too expensive and pretty useful.

Did you buy panda film or any sort of reflective materials for the inside? if you not to worried about air leaks you can use 2 sided Velcro. run a square around the door then another around the thick piece of panda film and you have a detachable door.

If you didnt try this.. try mounting the door from the top down or vise versa bottom up. so the door either lifts open of swings down. Usually more room and stronger structure on the top and bottom verses the side.

  4. Check mine out dude

  5. you might need to screw and glue some additional strips of wood where the hinges go to increase strength. On my dresser I have an insert door that pulls completely off. The bottom sets in place and then I tilt the top forward and an extra strong magnet make the top snap in place. I used a magnet from and old hard drive ( they are superstrong, be careful)

I can throw up a pic or 2 if ya wanna see detail.
