Pet Bear?

  1. Saw this video on Youtube where this guy trained a grizzly bear as a cub and now that he is full grown (about 8-9 feet standing up) they are best friends. Ive always loved bears, and want to eventually train and own one haha. Is this idea to far fetched any thoughts would be awesome!

  2. Sounds a little bit nuts to me lol

Government.might want to rain on your parade tho. They like that

  4. Bears are omnivores, they eat just about anything, remember that, otherwise sounds like a hoot

  5. Unless you have a ton of land far away from people, I'd advise against it. Keeping a healthy bear is incredibly expensive, and if you really love animals, you wouldn't want to keep an animal if it can't be happy.

If it's the bear I'm thinking of that would be Bart the bear, and it's not really a pet so much as a movie star. The guy who handles him raised another bear also named Bart who was the start for what's now a foundation intended to offer bears space and resources to live wild in a world that's quickly encroaching on their territory.

There's a full length documentary out there somewhere on the subject, I saw it years ago and thought it was great. You probably don't want to try making a pet of a brown bear though. Or any other for that matter ;)

Edit to add this link, might be interesting if you want to go further into that bear.

  9. you'd have to raise it as a cub.  if you grew up with a bear and it sees you as family, it'll never hurt you. (at least not on purpose, anyway, lol)  cubs that havent seen each other for a decade often reunite and play, reliving the good days.

  10. He was a wrestler and wrestled with the bear.
Also did commercials, and shit with it.

He got it back. It will be well dead now lol

In Maine the black bear is legally allowable as a pet and both eukanuba and iams make a bear chow
