Do Full Spectrum Leds Work Well Enough To Be A Main Light Source Or Should I Use It To Supplement The T5s?

  1. \tcan i use a Oceanrevive 300w + Full Spectrum LED Grow Light Lamp 3w Leds as my only light (or with an extra 225 red led panel  14w, 630nm spec for flowering) for a small bubbleponics hydropony 6- w" 3in net pots(6) in a 3 gal(+/-) tote, 30cm x 40cm (about 1.3 sq ft @ the top so possibly 3-4 sq ft? @ end of the cycle)? or should i just use it to supplement 6 ft t5's 54w?  i think the plants would benefit from that temperature decrease in the growspace if thats enough of the right kinds of light.

  2. nobody has any input? dag, I was really hoping for some advice, guess this'll be one of those learn-by-doing things lol. gonna get everything ready to start up again here in the next couple weeks. id really appreciate some input on this lighting....

  3. I'm not an expert but I have had a couple good grows using only a 300 watt full spectrum LED grow lamp.

  4. Regarding "the right kind of light" Have you been on any of the threads regarding SolarSPEC white LEDs? They seem to be more effective than the "multi color" panels. There is a photo of a plant growing towards a white LED panel while under a red one.

  5. White light is important to plants but often overlooked.  Many multi colour panels have red, green, and blue and hope that the 3 colours will mix to give you the full colour spectrum.  In theory this is good but in practice it doesn't seem to work that well and the plants get all the red and blue they need but not enough of the other colours they were supposed to get mixing the red and blue with green.  When they replace the green LED's on a panel with white LED's the plants seem to do better and because the plants only need a little white light and need a lot of blue and red it makes scene, to me, that getting a panel with mostly red and blue with a few white ones too is the most economical and should work just fine but I've never use a panel of all white LED's so it's logic making the call not 1st hand knowledge.

  6. I would say yes you can use it. if you are going to supplement your plant would be much happier getting 660. if 630 is all you have then ok.

I have a couple lights for veg one uses a warm white mixed with blue and one all blue. I prefer the all blue. a white full spectrum led doesnt make a lot of sense to me because my reason for using LED lighting was to tailor my spectrum to give me the best possible Paka. All white just seems kinda lazy in the LED world.

  7. If I have a led light it's got 225 lights. Made by Quad band. Has red/orange/blue/white can I switch it in place of 600watt Ups and have no problems. And is it a good idea.? Thanks if someone helps.

  8. Im not sure about the specific light you are talking about but I use the Reflector II from TopLED and they are pretty damn good at flowering. I use T5 and 6400K CFL for vegging though.

  9. Not even close.  The light you are looking at is only 14 watts and isn't suitable for much of anything.  It's total output is about the same as a 17 watt cfl which isn't even enough to rooting clones.  To make matters worse the leds used in that light are only capable of using about 1/8 watt each and uses cloudy lenses which are the same as what get put in cheap LED flashlights or in toys.

  10. I went with the Mars II 700 anyway
