  1.
I stumbled upon this show a few days ago and I am loving it, its olden-timey but has a very clean feel to it. Some of the scenes I have a hard time watching though, a little bit too......medical for me, but otherwise really liking it.
Anyone that is curious about checking it out I would really recommend it :)

  2. My mom has been watching it and ive been meaning to watch it now that True Blood is no longer on air .

I clean table ... I clean mouth ... You breathe deep

I stopped watching True Blood a couple of seasons ago they really dropped the ball, I thought, anyway....
The Knick, to me, seems sort of like a medical drama (Greys Anatomy, ER, etc.) But set back in the early 1900's and instead of all the plot lines having to do with who slept with who or who likes who, there is some actual substance and history woven in. All of the characters have sort of a side-thing going on that gives you an idea of who they are, but it's actually interesting and not just character filler. It's early in the season yet, but they have touched on a few topics I remember learning about in school, like Typhoid Mary.
And maybe its because I absolutely loved House, but I am delighted that the main brilliant doctor in this show is also a drug addict. AND he likes whores. Its like, a much more handsome early century House

  4. I started watching it yesterday..wow you were right about some parts being too medical lol

  5. just started watching this show. So far very good and i really enjoy it but i do like the medical field and find alot of the scene ridiculous and fascinating.

I guess its also pretty historical. The doctor the show is based off of was also a cocaine and morphine addict which is why he keeps taking those vials out of his drawer ha.

I know I totally am hooked, its fascinating to see how far we have come medically though, some of those procedures looked pretty barbaric!
I never really paid attention to much of Clive Owen's work infact I'd be hard pressed to tell you anything else he has done, but I'll have to keep my eye out now because I love what he is doing with this character!

Shit this last episode seemed like everybody was screwing everybody over in some way, and the second that scene started with that little girl on the table I knew exactly how it was going to go down but it was still hard to watch.
I love that they make sure to reference that its Bayer Asperin that was making the Heroin to treat his Cocaine addiction, and loved the fact that they are using heroin to treat his cocaine addiction lol classic

  8. its crazy how they did that.  In the 60s doctors were prescribing dextroapmphetamine and meth to treat opiate addiction, so i guess if they have done something that crazy not too long ago, its not too surprising that they did that previously.

  9. If you go into some good Antique shops you can still find the old containers they used to keep those drugs in, there are a tonne of laudanum containers at the one shop I go to, once I found one for opium. History is neat. :)

  10. that would be awesome to get some of those old containers.  Definitely a neat part of history.  Would be nice if they still had the contents in them  :ey: if you know what i mean ha

  11. great show,

cleary the ambulance guy is the shit

  12.
Is it weird that I want Cleary to hook up with the Nun? :)

  13. Cleary and the nun have some great scenes together that would seem pretty predictable to have them fuck. The black guy fucking the racist white guys wife was incredibly hacky and cliche hollywood drivel. Aside from the tired old cliche race related stuff like that this show is very top quality.

How about that scene with the asian guy killing the pimp and all his lackeys. That was some smooth ninja shit right there. This has quickly become my new favorite show.

I definitely get the references to House as well. Lots of similarities there, except when the patients die in this show there arent people screaming and buzzers going off, its just like aaaaaaaaand there dead. aaaaand the patients dead. operation has begun aaaand there dead.

  14. Yeah I know what you mean about all the racist stuff but it does go hand in hand with the times. It just so happens the story includes a very prominent black guy so they sorta give him all the shit, although I think they were just as racist towards other types of people as well. I didn't have a problem with the whole "Intelligent Black doctor hooks up with the poor Rich white girl" so much as I had a problem with how they did it. They played the relationship off like they were just childhood friends up until he had his own little practice downstairs, and then all of a sudden she's into him? I don't get that, like somehow him having a secret practice downstairs suddenly made her love him?? That just seemed sorta dumb. If she was like, glancing at him and swooning from the beginning that would of been better, at least it would make more sense.
And that asian guy is totally awesome I loved his scene it was like old-timey ninja shit lol I especially liked that he was smart enough to see through that whole "Thackery's request" thing and screw over that slimy little accountant who's name I never remember.  Something needs to happen to him, big time.

I agree though, this show has definitely made it to my weekly roster :)

  15. yeah that slimy accountant seems to be one of the worst characters on the show. Just about everyone is in a grey area of morality but that guy is just outright scummy. Cleary seemed like he would be a villian at first and became one of my favorites, him pulling the ambulance when during the riot episode was a great scene.

Birdy seems to be one of the only characters not involved in some kind of fuckery.

  16.
Yeah he was really badass pulling that ambulance, like a friggen beast. I like that he's become a little more "kind" about the business he has found himself in with the nun. He might end up being the most decent person on the whole show!
And it kills me that Lucy chose Thackery over Birdy. I mean, he really liked her and seemed genuine and like a really good catch, and she ends up going for the drugged out whorey doctor that doesn't really care for her at all. Her loss I guess!
I thought it was cute how he sorta kept hinting at how he wanted to bring those asian hookers back in for another round, but couldn't just do it himself lol
