First of all, I think cannabis has many good medical properties that can benefit millions of people. But this topic is more about some of the stoners that I meet these days that say 'It's my medicine' as an excuse to smoke. These stoners usually claim it 'Helps my ADD', 'I have [insert type of anxiety condition here] anxiety!'. While I think that cannabis does help with some peoples anxiety or other mental issues... it's annoying when you hear some stoner who obviously just smokes to get high say something stupid like that. It makes the people who actually need medical marijuana look bad. Take me for example. I like to smoke weed sometimes to relax and calm my stress. But I do not claim 'it's my medicine' because I really only smoke to get high, and I'm not going to lie about it.
Medicinal marijuana actually does alleviate many symptoms of adhd, and with the right strain can help with anxiety. HOWEVER, you are right. Many people bullshit about why they use it. Even still though, there's nothing wrong with smoking it to get high. I do a bit of both myself. Alleviating mental problems, physical problems, and then get high whenever the hell I feel like getting high for the fun of it. Not nearly as often as the medicating part comes into play though.
Don't project your own experience and understanding of physical or psychological disorders onto others. You can't know what they're dealing with, and it can be insulting to try. Just smoke your herb for your own reasons and let others do so for theirs. Why does it matter anyway?
it annoys me that weed has to serve medical purposes to gain some ground in this country. i just wanna get high in peace. it is a good painkiller though. needed that when they didn't give me pills for my destroyed hands/arms. Lol.
It does help with my epilepsy, I take oil capsules so I don't get high. I do smoke as well, and it does help when I'm having milder seizures. Yes, some people use it as an excuse to get high, some people have no personal responsibility anymore.
What... can you think of another cheap and natural substance that assists millions of people that have [serious] ailments with little to no side effects? because i can't.

i was sort of speaking theoretically, without all the government red tape and restrictions, it's very cheap. especially compared to pharmaceuticals and if you grow it yourself it's cheap as well.
i completely understood the thread. i just wanted to point what i thought was a major contradiction in your reasoning. there's people who smoke to get high, there's people who smoke to alleviate medical problems, and there's people that do both.
It's is your medicine to make you calm your stress level. Without it, you will lose your job, divorce the wife and maybe end up in jail. Don't lie to yourself either. The medical qualities of cannabis go way beyond physical aiments. We use it recreationally, but it works medicinally. Can you say the same for alcohol or any unmentionable drugs?
