Natural/heat Burnt Or Something Else?

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by OT2, Sep 13, 2014.

  1. What type of medium; soil or hydro? Soil
What brand and type of soil? Gold Label Light Mix (Just moved a few to the special mix).
    Indoors or outdoors? Indoors.
    What strain? Y Griega/1024/2046
How old are the plants? 3 weeks.
What type of lights and how many watts? Lumen 600W
How far from the lights? Was aprox 10-12" (I thought the problem was just heat, so have moved it up a little to 16-20".
What is your watering frequency and source of water? Tap water, I have pH+/- but my measuring device from China hasn't arrived 3 weeks on (Y)
What, how much and when was it fed? NPK? No nutes yet.
What is the medium/runoff pH and PPM if in hydro? No meter for it yet.
What are the temps and humidity in the room? 27-31 Celcius. 40-45%.
What size pots? Root Pouch for the large ones now. Sorry I'm not sure on the size but they were the £5 ones :p
Any bugs? Look real close. Nope.
Any other pertinent info? Pictures attached.

Here is a leaf, where the edges dried up and looked very unhealthy. Probably unhelpfully I 'rubbed' them away - as it seemed like they were just crusty from the heat. As mentioned above I then moved the lamp further away:

Here is the same plant when NOT under the HPS bulb:

And again from a further distance:

Some other plants with the same issue:

I think it's natural/down to slightly higher than optimal temps. But it seems to be effecting leaves randomly rather than ones just at the top. But hopefully you guys have some better ideas than me - I'll post back here if it gets worse/keeps happening.

  2. If anything you would want to keep the lights closer to the plant about 2-4 inches and the plant needs more lumens I suggest at least 5000k plus for veg then flowering you would want to go with a smaller more yellowish type of light. By the looks of what I see it may be nute burn or some type of deficiency. And do you have a fan also to keep the air flowing to your plants? Probably to humid and temps are to hot. Those are my suggestions

  3. Hey chubbyblunts, thanks for replying. I took the plants out the tent for a couple of those pictures & only just moved the light up because I thought they might be too hot. These plants are on the floor where the intake is, along with a 3 speed fan. I'm not feeding these with any nutes yet & the soil was a light mix! I'm hoping it's just an anomaly - or is that hopeful thinking?

  4. Well it should be fine then as long as it's not effecting the new growth of leaves
Remember to no over water your plants also I like to just feel how heavy the pot is before I water my plants. You said a light mix soil probably not enough NPK in the soil as all plants need nitrogen. N=nitrogen P=phosphorus and K=potassium these are the 3 main things elements a plant needs for the Veg growth. My plant just got burned by the sun yesterday as it was like 106 degrees so she's slightly recovering from her abuse she took. But your plant doesn't like that bad though
