General Discussion About Autoflowers

  1. So I'm a pretty experienced. But I love you girl my first autoflower and I generally like to do things first time so although I have a lot of research done about other flowers and I know a great but about them myself I'm just always willing to learn more so I'm wanting to know if any of you guys have any suggestions about increase of yield or any general knowledge that would be helpful. Right now I'm just going to be growing one autoflower just because it's my first one but I'm also growing about four other plans in 20 square foot grow room, I'm using LED and CFL lighting . I've also heard that they don't like a lot of nutrients so they like white soil but I'm also a firm believer that all plants like nutrients But just wanna hear your guys thoughts about the matter so I appreciate any input.

  4. Hi Taco,

No offense, but it's a bit difficult to understand what you're asking.  In the future, I'd recommend editing your post, and perhaps proof-reading it prior to posting.  You can also use the "edit" button to go back and correct your mistakes rather than making more posts about it.

My experience with autoflowers has been sort of... meh.    I even have my own strain that I've breed myself, and I'm just not fond of them.

They do have their purpose, and are handy if it's your first grow.  It will get you "in the weed" quicker than growing photoperiod plants, and are great for newbies to learn how to grow.

Even the BEST autoflowers are of horrible quality.  I'm sure one day, something will overcome those ruderalis "ditch weed" genetics, but I haven't found any worth my time.   They give me a bit of a headache, and never quite have the effect I enjoy in indica/sativa.

As far as growing them, it's as simple as it gets!   After the cotyledons start to yellow, feed veg nutes for a couple more weeks.  About a week or two after they show sex, switch to bloom nutrients.  Harvest when you think they're ready.  I use full strength, exact same formula as any other cannabis plant, and mine grow as you'd expect.

One point to make, is that autoflowers don't like to be transplanted and messed with a lot.  They will grow out their long taproot, down to the main water supply, then spread out from there.   Unlike plants that are clones, these are grown from seed to harvest in one go, so I recommend growing in sort of long/tall containers.
