I don't think weed is the gateway, but the dealer that sells the weed is. They could offer other illegal things when you're picking up.
I don't think there's just one answer to a question like this. There are too many factors to take into account.
It probably is for some people but the fact is that someone who gets drunk is just as likely to go on to taking other drugs (or maybe a bit more likely, i think i read that somewhere) as someone who smoked weed.

no. It's more about a persons psychological makeup that will make them more likely to try certain drugs. Like some people don't like the feeling of stimulants like coffee, cocaine..etc. Some people just like downers. then there are some people that would be mroe likely to use molly because they like to be social with others and feel close to others. It's also about the limit a person is willing to go. Some people like the trill of jumping off a diving board but that doesn't mean they are more likely to want to ride a racecar at 200 miles an hour.

If yoh smoke weed you will not definitely get into harder drugs, but many people who like the weed high evenually end up seeking out more intense drugs such as shrooms coke and others. hell sugar and caffeine are drugs. Aspirin, what you take when you pull somethibg or get a headache or whatever, is a drug. Hell our own brains produce drugs, extremely potent ones at that. There is not a single person on this planet, who has never been under the influence of a drug before. That said, OP, weed is only a gateway drug insofar as if you buy it illegally, you will probably be offered other drugs at some point.
