Bonsai Mothers Under Cfl

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by Tenacious Trichomes, Sep 9, 2014.

  1. Hey everyone! So I've decide for many reasons that I will be going the CFL route and have my box almost ready. I was planning on doing straight seeds for each grow but then stumbled across the bonsai mums thread on a different site. (By OT1). Anyways, I'm going to be doing northern light blue by delicious and thc bomb by bomb seeds (both feminized). Instead of doing seeds each grow, I am thinking of keeping a mother of each strain in a seperate box.

How much space should I have for say 3 bonsai mothers to be kept for clones?

How much true wattage of CFL's should I have to keep them healthy and sustain them?

I plan on doing one plant at a time in my flower box for my own consumption so I don't need to be cranking out clones at a fast pace. The only time I will need to ramp up clone production is in the spring for a few outdoor ladies, I will move the plants into the flower box with 312 watts to veg to help get the mothers growing shoots.

I was initially thinking about a 1.5'x1.5'x1.5' with around 50-100 watts of CFL's...

    Thanks for your help here

  2. Anyone with any input at all?

  3. Well, you can probably do 3 bonzai mothers in a total of 3 gallons of soil [ 1gal/plant ] or less, but I think 1 gallon is big enough for mother plants. Though.. Instead of one plant at a time, get yourself some smaller pots and take clones, then throw multiple clones into the box. Probably best way to yield in that box, in my opinion. That way you aren't backing up on clones and the mothers aren't getting too big. You could take them in week/2 week intervals, for a continuous harvest, too.

  4. That's a great idea. Would the 1.5x1.5x1.5 be sufficient enough to keep those mothers in tho? As well, 100-150 watts of cfl enough as well? I want to get building this mother box shortly to get things rolling...pardon the pun

  5. Ive kept mother clones in party cups for months. Its all how you care for them. If your will and skill is good you can accomplish anything you set your mind to for the rest of your life, regardless of what people think.
