Difference Bet Expensive And Cheaper Grinders?

Discussion in 'Other Smoking Accessories' started by Clampit, Sep 9, 2014.

  1. Besides price? :confused_2:

  2. I searched for a company named "difference bet expensive" but did not find anything.

  3. More powerful magnets, 4pc vs 2pc, higher quality metal, paint that won't come off when you ISO wash it, larger, brand name.

Difference bet expensive and cheaper grinder besides price? WTF does that mean?

Oh I get it. "What is the difference between expensive and cheaper grinders besides price"

You were stoned when you wrote it. I was stoned when I read it. 2 wrongs don't make a right. Sorry.

  7. My favorite grinder is a 2 pc plastic one that I got for free when I bought a zong. Outlasted several sharpstones and metal busters. I usually bust up a half oz at a time so I like how easy it is to fill and empty the 2 pc grinder compared to unscrewing the layers in one of my 4 pc grinders.

  9. 3 differences, really.

cheaper grinders are going to have less chambers, probably only 1 chamber. this is like the absolute lowest tier grinder, there's not even a separate chamber for the ground bud. personally I'd never buy one of these. this is commonly called a 2 piece grinder. then you can get a 3 piece, which has a chamber where the bud is ground, and a separate one where the ground up bud falls into. a 4 piece has all that, plus an even smaller chamber where kief accumulates through a very fine screen (called a kiefcatcher).

other difference is the quality of metal. if you get something american made, it'll probably have a bit higher price tag but you know it's quality metal. the one nesw posted is an example of a cheap grinder, and oftentimes the teeth can break off into the bud. little shavings of teeth coming off into the bud are also an issue, which is why I'd advise against one of these.

last difference is the diameter of the grinder, but that's kinda self explanatory. a 5 inch grinder is going to be more than a 2 inch one of the same quality.

4 piece is nice, but if you wanna save a little cash you can get a 3 piece. only get american made stuff, ask at the headshop they'll know. you can probably get a nice 3 piece for $20-$40, a 4 piece for $30+. but it's worth it. also, you should know that it takes a very long time to build up any quantity of kief in the grinder, unless you smoke fat amounts of weed.

I've heard that a company called SharpStone makes nice grinders. I own a cheapo two piece grinder myself. I hardly ever use it. I just break up my bud with my fingers and lick my fingers after I'm done rolling my joint. I only lick my fingers when I'm rolling by myself though, I don't wish to gross anyone out. It takes forever to break up the bud with my fingers but, I'm in no hurry.

  11. Durability, materials used, magnet strength, sharpness of teeth, time for teeth to dull (mostly dependent on type of metal), and grind quality (due to size of holes and placement of teeth)

  12. i dont think the quality of the grind could get much better than what i get now from my $6 four piece metal but im sure the build quality could. mine is very sharp and the screen is awesome though so i dont have any complaints from my cheap grinder.

  13. That pretty much sums it up!

Use a space case and tell me if you still have the same opinion on your cheap grinder

I don't like grinders too much, no matter what kind I try, they always get clogged up with kief. I clean them but it never collects like when it was brand new. There's really no point to the screen in my grinders now they are just lined with kief nothing gets through.

More often than not I find myself just using shot glass + fiskar scissors.

Initially that as my dream grinder. A medium titanium 4piece. I only bought this to hold me over but its worked so well for me. Eventually i will get one. Id say its next on my list since ive recently crossed off bong and vape.

  17. Another point, ones made in a chinese sweat shop, one made in an american facility, most likely a sweat shop.

Ive spent about 150-200 bucks collecting grinders over the years.

In the end i used a screened bowl i got for 50 cents at the salvation army. Havent missed my grinders

Whenever I do that it turns this way again in like a day, and it never really cleans the screen enough :confused_2: . Maybe ill let it soak like overnight or something.
