I just recently bought my first rig (used) and had the following questions:

1.) I have a domeless quartz nail, how hot am I supposed to heat it?

2.) Sometimes I am left with trailing smoke after I finish my dab. This makes me curious bc when I finish the dab, no smoke is in the piece at all.

3.) Is it worth upgrading to a Ti nail? Mine gets the job done it seems like.

4.) How big are the dabs you're taking? (Pictures?)

Thank you for any help guys

1.) **EDIT: You want the nail to have a slight orange glow , once its glowing turn off the torch and let it sit for 6 seconds and dab. I let it sit because I don't prefer warmer vapor  :) sorry bout before

2.) Look at whats on the nail not the bong.

3.) Depends on what quartz nail you already are using.

4.) Gauge your dabs by your own personal preference. In order to find your preference take more dabs (Parenthesis bonus question) NO :p

  3. thank you! But you seemed to have misread my first question

  4. Heat it 'til it starts turning red. Don't let it get too hot or else it'll crack. Whenever you get the cash I'd go for a titanium domeless eventually. I just made the switch a week ago and it seems quite better. Plus, it won't break if ya drop it :)

  5. is it really much better? I'm not a huge dabber

  6. It's not so much better to the point where it'll change your experience completely(However going from domed nail to domeless TI can change it!). It can just withstand overheating without cracking or breaking. And dropping. You're fine with what ya got but if that one ever breaks I'd replace it with a titanium one.

  7. Heat it til it's red in the spot the torch is hitting it not the whole nail. Heat it from the bottom not the top. If there is smoke trailing off your nail wasn't hot enough or your dab was too big. It is worth upgrading to a ti nail. You can find decent ones pretty cheap. I got one from cannabinol and it came with a some less ti nail and a dabber for 35 bucks and they gave me a free silicone jar, you just have to look around. As far as how big your dabs are that depends on the person. I've seen people rip .3 even .5 dabs before but mine are usually .05-.1. The size I take would fit just about perfect in the hole of a bic lighter.

  8. Quartz won't crack from heating.

  9.
Thank you I didnt even notice that lol . Fixed.

I've had a quartz nail piece that cracked from overheating. Maybe the guy who sold it to me lied and said it was quartz when it was glass? All's good tho since we have the TI

lmao @[member="mrpickle"] it either wasnt quartz or whoever made it did an extremely shitty weld. I'm guessing you got duped into buying a boro nail

@[member="Jon3oh9"] its fine to have it burning a lil still after a dab, mine does every single time. You could always do a hotter dab if its that important to you but it will taste like straight ass. lower temps=better flavs. use a dome or an errl dish to carb it so you can catch all those vapors at low temps

  13. It will Crack only if it's shitty quartz real quartz can be heated hotter then my vector nitro can get and didn't crack.. the way to test if you got good quality quartz is to hold the nail at the end and heat the other end if it's good little to no heat will be felt if it's bullshit or glass trying to be passed as quartz you'll know quick cuz the heat won't stay at the end it will travel down the whole nail
