Time To Get In Shape But I Need A Little Help...

Discussion in 'Fitness, Health & Nutrition' started by manontherun, Sep 9, 2014.

  1. Hey guys.

I am a very large man in my late 20s and realized recently that I needed to make a drastic intervention to my lifestyle or I would not be of this world for much longer. My obesity. Early killed me back in February and now that I am recovered fully it is time to work on my health.

I bought a gym membership yesterday at world gym, I went out and got this horrid stuff called 6 star muscle building protons that I will be using right before and possibly after my work outs. But beyond that I feel kinda lost in a gym and I am not to sure what foods I should be eating when and how mant times. Stuff like that.

What I am looking for is a handy website or any one willing to provide what you would normally eat / do at the gym on an average day. I am trying to achieve muscle mass and fat loss.

Also not to derail my own thread or any thing, but how do you guys deal with munchies and eating healthy? Any good healthy foods that are satisfying enough to relive munchies?

  2. I recommend checking out bodybuilding.com forums you'll find all the answers you want there. Make sure to read the stickies in the nutrition section to learn about how many calories you need to eat to lose weight, and how to figure out your macro's. Also I recommend using myfitnesspal.com to track your calories. I recommend you start eating clean, which means limit processed foods as much as possible. You'll need to start cooking your own healthy meals. once you cut out the processed foods you'll start feeling much better and you'll be healthier. However you choose to go about this weight lose journey make sure you stick to it.

I use to eat junk food all the time, once u started eating clean I realized I no longer wanted to eat all the junk. Whole foods make you feel fuller longer so you don't crave the junk foods. But make sure you treat yourself to some maybe not so healthy foods every so often to keep your cravings down, and also so you don't get discouraged on your journey to a healthy body.

  3. Thanks for the web sites enjoying them so far!

  4. Can't build muscle and shed fat at the same time. Pick one or the other. I agree with checking out bodybuilding forum. Research iifym. Good method of eating while staying sane, you don't need to eat like a rabbit to lose weight like most seem to believe. Keep protein high, fats moderate and carbs are not the devil as a lot of people seem to think.

As far as munchies idk deal with it or stop I know 3 people that completely gave up weed while cutting cause they couldn't control the munchies.

  5. Yo my man, I'm a personal trainer so if you need any tips let me know. Since you are just starting out you'll notice results really quick. What I would recommend is walk for at least 30min a day and try and add 45min of resistance training every second day. What you specifically are going to look for are stabilization/ muscular endurance type exercises. Ppl are going to tell you the classic 10x3 for you workouts, but you're going to destroy your body and mobility that way. Start with stabilization movements. Very little core movement, and a little more extremity movements.

  6. And for munchies, that's just discipline. I indulge in a cheat meal here n there, but for the best results, either do a lot of research into heal foods, or find a suitable nutritionist (depending how serious you are). I avoid junk food by simply getting healthier snacks like fruits and cereal for my car. You'll get a routine down.

Congrats on making a change, my man!

  7. What's up, manontherun,

I myself a few years ago had this problem. I weighed about 230 lbs, and was not happy. I had to understand a way to fit healthy foods into my diet. I made some changes, and it paid off for me.

  8. Thought I would pop back in for an update!

After just 4 days of following links and applying my new found information I have started a wonderful transformation,

My mood is better! I suffer from a mood disorder that i have been trying to control with weed, and just the dietary changes are having a great effect. I wake up at a decent hour and feel damn fine doing it.

Lost 7 pounds in a few days. Holy crap I never thought it possible to shed 7 pounds in such a short time frame. ( May just be the steam room lol) I have been doing moderate work outs daily for little more then 45 minutes so I was very surprised to find how much weight I have lost so far.

My diet kicks ass! I never feel too hungry and no more eating out. Saving on average 13 bucks a day just by prepping food at home ( used to eat out 3 meals a day :( )

I feel more stable. Being a fatass my center of gravity is rather low. Like near my knees. This tends to make me very clumsy and I was always unsure of my footing. Now I feel I can walk briskly with out that feeling of oh shit I'm going to snap my ankle. Kinda hard to describe but any one who is or was obese at one point should know what I am talking about. I feel like I have a lot more control over my movements.

Speaking of movements.... General health in that area is improving daily as well.

So a great thanks to every one who helped point me on the right path to a healthy life style! I feel as though some of the information I have found will surely have literally saved my life if I stick with it so thanks again.
