Getting A Passat

  1. I should be getting a free passat and Im kinda excited! My mom is getting a new car so my dad is getting her camry. They said they would let me have the passat since I showed interest in it. It's a 1.8T and is a 2001 I think. Currently I drive a reg cab tacoma so it will be sweet to have a nice commuter car. Also, I can fit more people lol. Lately I've been trying to learn more about mechanics so I plan on working on it myself. The interior is kinda nasty and it has a few bugs but Its overall solid and hasn't been burning oil which Is great. I picked up a $95 project jon boat last week so I'm having a great month! Just though I would share as I might have some questions when I actually start driving it.

  2. @[member="bluntyoungballa"] personally I drive a Mazda3 sedan, and I've had people in it maybe twice. I use it as a commuter, I would just keep the truck, usually they are cheaper on insurance, and it will without question be cheaper for parts.

  3. Get a Chiltons or Hayes manual for you that will help you with the mechanical side of things.

Oh, I should have said that I love my truck and it isn't going anywhere haha. Its a 2012 and I use it way to much to sell. I plan on making the passat the DD/project. I had said in the past that when they went to sell it I would be interested but it just worked out that I could have it. Thanks for reminding me about the manual I'll definitely pick one up. The biggest thing is the exhaust is really loud and it's completely stock. It passes inspection so I'm not really sure what that's all about. We had 2 at one time so I was surprised when my dad said it wasn't burning oil. I'll also have to see how much my insurance is with 2 vehicles and the mpg it's getting.

  5. I have a 2006 Passat 2.0t and it's a pretty nice ride, other then a few electrical problems here and there.. I once had a problem with my exhaust being loud, turns out my exhaust pipe was just loose in the front.

  6. Nice thanks. I'll have to take a look. Yeah we had a 99 and a 01 I think and both always had annoying small problems. The dash on the current one looks like a Christmas tree with all the lights going off haha. But the smooth ride and turbo makes it a beautiful ride.

  7. Sure thing and haha yeah my Passat has the same annoying small problems but it rides smooth and hauls ass.. The sound system is bitchin too

  8. Goodluck! I had the same exact car your getting and it came with abunch of electrical problems in it. I installed a sub 4 new speakers and a brand new radio in it and after a month or two the tranny blew out and te engine blew.

Haha so fucking annoying. I remember when my rents would take it to the dealer it would cost like $80 to diagnose and turn off the one light. The Saturn I had only cost $30 or so. I'm thinking I'll get a scangauge so I can try and diagnose it myself. The interior needs to be steam cleaned or something. My dad Is retired so it sits in the driveway and mold got into the interior. The car is solid overall it's just dirty and loud haha.

  10. Right, and damn lol I went to advance auto parts and they scanned it for free.. I just have to order the parts and take it into my mechanic now. Taking it to the dealer always costs more so getting a scanner yourself is smart. And lol, my interior is pretty clean but the decal of the buttons on my doors have bubbled and chipped off
