Hey all, this is my first post. Been reading on GC for years, and specifically microgrow the past few months... Well, I had a few specific questions I hadn't seen answers for (I'm sure they have been answered before) but I rolled a fat one and finally decided to make an account and didn't see the harm in trying to start a discussion :smoking:

Keep in mind this would all be hypothetical, but I guess my first question would be, what is the smallest light possible (in wattage, let's assume electricity bill is paid by someone else who would notice a spike) to grow a plant or two? I know LED would probably use the least power but maybe I'm wrong? and that's why I'm here! :confused_2: :smoke:

The next question would be, what would be the best way to train it into a small space? (lst, fim, supercropping, etc.) It would be in a very small space, honestly wondering what the smallest space possible would be before it lost it's worth in even going through with it?

I think that should be enough to start a conversation or two with someone! I'll add more if I think of anything. looking forward to hearing from everyone! :hello: :bongin:

check out loki's 'drop of green' thread..I think that's gonna hold the title for smallest grow ever for quite a while. I think he did a grow in a pill bottle too.

You can get pretty small without getting that technical though. I'd bet a person could grow a quarter with a 13w cfl or led.  When it comes to lighting 50w of light is gonna put out 50w of heat...whether it's cfl, led, or hps. I'm actually having decent results with store bought 13.5w led bulbs.

When a plant is gonna end up finishing real small, there's not much need to train it. You could maybe top it once...but you really don't want to end up with more then 2 or 3 tops if it's only gonna flower under 10w or so. Otherwise the buds end up way too small and fluffy..imo it's much better to grow a couple medium sized buds rather then a bunch of tiny buds.

I highly recommend reading through some of the stickies in the new growers area and in the micro forum area :)

  4. Car hids, could even run them to a 12v car battery :smoke:

Much, much, much, much better than cfls and pretty damn cheap for the correct spectrums on ebay.

  5. @[member="Bongsauce"] sorry I didn't reply sooner. your response was so good, I have been doing nonstop research on the DoG setup since you posted. I can't believe I haven't seen it before, haha. I'm honestly in shock. Does this seriously work? I seems as if all the science checks out, but does anyone have any documented DoG setups besides Loki? I always knew I had much to learn but this just flipped the script hahah

  6. lol...loki's grow was more of a novelty. I think he just wanted to show what's possible.

I've seen some people have amazing results in PC's and 1 sq foot boxes..pulling 1-2 ounces...it's more then possible for someone to supply themselves with enough weed with a grow of that size.
