Questions About Switch To Vape

Discussion in 'Vaporizers' started by chalker, Sep 8, 2014.

  1. Hey everyone, recently my first bong broke :(. Was cleaning it, put it down for a minute, come back and my cat knocked it over and the perc broke. I've grown tired of smoking out of the homemade, and am ready to get a new bong. Then I started reading about vaporizers, and the more I read, the more I think about switching. I have $150, and I understand that vaporizers vary greatly, and didn't want to drop that kind of money on something I don't know if I'll like, so I thought I'd ask some questions and decide from there.

Firstly, is there a huge difference in the high between combustion vs vape? Like such a difference that one could love the high of one, and not like the high from the other?

Also since money is pretty tight right now, and I usually smoke with friends, the ability to re-use AVB, is appealing. I've read that most people cook with it, but if you smoke it, does it get you high

Any recommendations on a vaporizer would be greatly appreciated. Would rather a desktop, and since I smoke with friends mostly, being able to use bags and whips would be great, but for $150 i'm not sure i'll find that, so just whip will be fine. Around my area, concentrates aren't really a big thing at all. So I'll be using mostly dry weed, although I have been thinking about experimenting with making BHO, so something that has the option to use with dabs would be good, but it doesn't have to. I'm still torn between getting another bong, and getting a vape later so I can continue to use the bong if I don't like the vape, so I figured some answers and opinions would help me decide. Any input at all would be great
Oh and sorry for the huge post, you know how it is when you're baked and start to ramble haha :bongin:

  2. Hey man, I'm going to touch up a few things, as to the high being different, yes it is. its more of a clean stoned feeling, I personally like it in the morning, because you don't feel sleepy while coming down from it. I don't anyways.

I recently bought a Arizer Extreme Q, which is a fantastic vape. I got it for 143$ flat. free shipping. go Google vaporseller arizer extreme q, you'll find it. it has the Whip and Bag attachment, so I find that to be a big plus.

Then again, if you wanna go with Stealth/Portable, I'd go with Magic Flight Launch Box. not too great for passing around in a smoke circle though.

Lastly, you can get a attachment for the EQ for ~20$ which will allow you to vaporize bong rips, which I think is super handy. Best of luck bro! :smoke:

Sent from my Spaceship, high as hell.

Vaping is definently worth it. Most people notice a decrease in usage to obtain the same high.

As far as ABV goes my favorite thing to do with it is make QWISO. I just made a batch this weekend that turned out actually pretty decent in flavor and gives a damn powerful punch. A vapor bowl with a little glob of it on top is sure to knock just about anyone out. You can also use bho in just about any vaporizer by putting it on cotton or on top of a bowl of herb.

Vapes to look in to that I have seen close to your price range are the vapolution, Extreme Q, herbalaire, Da Buddha, Light Saber, and more that I just cant think of right now.

edit- got to throw underdog in their to since their are selling their birthday vape for $160 right now. http://underdogvapes.com/vaporizers/vapes-available/birthday-vape-2014

  4. I think ive given up on trying to make AVB qwiso, ive never made any that ive taken more then one or two dabs of due to shitty taste and annoying consistency. Do you dab yours ? I'm really not sure what the problem is, could be my method (ive tryed a few) could be too vaped to make a good final product or maybe im just to picky.

Do you mind sharing your method ?(specifically: Iso percentage, wash time, how you evap do you use a heating pad or just let evap with a fan going) w

Unless I could get some good insight from you ill probably try psychedelic Sam's method for tincures

  5. Switch to vape and youll never go back, well occasionally. For what you're working with the Arizer Extreme is a beast. Love that vape. I like to collect a bunch of ABV and make butter and cook with it.

If youre looking portable, Da Vinci makes a decent one, but I'd try and save a bit more and go for the Pax or Firefly, worth the extra dough and blows away the MFLB.
    Happy vaping!

Cheers to everyone who has made some suggestions, I'm currently looking at the extreme q and am 90% sold on buying it next pay. Just a few more questions though, if its not too much trouble to help me be completely sold on it. Does the smoke in the bag go stale after awhile? Like if I fill up a bag and just watch a movie, taking a hit every minute or two, after a while will the smoke just taste real bad? Also on average how much weed does it take to fill a bag up? How long is the whip that comes with it? Because my plan is to just sit the extreme q on a coffee table in the middle of my lounge, and it would be good if I could just pass the whip around the table without having to move the vape itself. Last question, is there a carb or something in the whip to clear it out? Sorry for the noob question, but I just imagine if i'm sucking on a long whip, it will fill up with a lot of smoke, and I don't see how one clears the whole hit without more some just coming out?

Again, thanks heaps guys, you have been a big help :)

  7.
    Yes.

  8. Which is better out of pax and firefly?

  9.
I prefer the FireFly because it is convection based and doesn't constantly cook your herb like the Pax does.

But...........the FireFly is bigger and heavier than the Pax.

  10. How do you feel about iolite?

  11. Can you do concentrates in the fire fly?

It's not really designed for concentrates.

Ya may want to check out the Ascent which is designed to do both herbs and concentrates.

  13. OK I will. How do you feel about the atmos raw?

  14.
    Complete crap for dry herbs.

  15. But OK for concentrates?

    Thanks

  16. Go Arizer. I didn't get the Extreme Q because I sincerely didn't care about any of its extra features, but even the basic model is a dramatic step up quality-wise from almost anything else in its price range (and even beats some costing quite a bit more, IME). I sold my Pax because it couldn't pack enough punch to get me high, even before I had even gotten into dabbing; my basic Arizer is a workhorse that still puts me out every night.

  17.
I'd only suggest getting a dual mode vape like the Q if one uses the vape both in solo mode and in party mode.    It's kind of a jack of all trades but a master at none.     Most people that get the Q end up using it in whip mode only, and for that, there are better options on the market than the Extreme Q.

  18. What's the base model? Vtower?

  19. There are plenty of good vapes in that price range even some that cost less than the arizer stuff and are better.

  20.
    1. Examples would be nice.
    2. Define "better".
    3. Having personally blown way too much cash on vapes in the last six years, from comparably priced desktop units to portables like the Pax, getting a V Tower was the most noticeable step up in quality that I came across, but YMMV.
