Infinite Possibilities

  1. Hello everyone!  :smoke:  :bongin:  :smoking:

I was looking up at the stars the other night, and got myself into some deep thinking.

Let us assume that the universe is expanding continuously at the speed of light, indefinitely.

If the universe constantly expands, then the universe has infinite volume, able to contain an infinite number of things. This may be a stretch, but that means there is an infinite possibility for anything and everything to be created!

Let me put it this way. Imagine a card dealer shuffles and lays out the cards on a table an infinite number of times. Although extremely rare, it is absolutely certain that one time the cards will appear as
AAAA 2222 3333.... and so on. Because there is infinite repetition. This means no matter how little of a chance, there is a 100% certain chance that anything we could imagine exists!

I do believe that the human mind is on a certain plane of thinking that they cannot overcome. Even through meditation, psychedelic drugs and incessant mental training, there is a certain boundary us humans cannot think past. Even trying to wrap your mind around the idea of infinity is very hard. The point is, that based on the way our minds work, we cannot imagine something that does not exist. Try imagining a color that doesn't exist...hard right? Because it doesnt exist..you cant imagine it.

In conclusion, the fact the the universe has infinite space means there is a 100% chance that anything that can be created using the periodic table of elements in fact will be created at some point, since there are infinite possibilities. Makes you wonder what's really out there... Anyway I hope i explained this in a way you can understand...thanks for reading!

  2. Here's how i see it:

    1. Space is infinite
    2. Matter is not

Space is expanding, matter is not

Eventually all matter, all bodies, all atoms will recede away from each other and the universe will be a very dark and uneventful place

The idea that there are multiple YOU'S somewhere out there in the universe is, imo, absurd. They may very well be a similar solar system with a similar planet orbiting a similar star with similar beings to us right now inhabiting the universe, but to say that there is another identical you out there with only a slightly different mustache is absurd

Indeed.  Which is what makes us unique in all the universe, and the likelihood we'll ever see anything like us is so infinitesimally laughably small, that the bulk of our abilities should be spent developing resources, both here and off world.  There's something absolutely absurd about telescopes, because we spend so much time scouring the heavens for our destiny that we fail to see that up is not the only path, sometimes looking in is the only out.
