Ready For Flowering And Yet Yielding Enough?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Cindy666, Sep 7, 2014.

  1. Hello,

I have a C99 from female seeds that is vegging since 16th of August. It is growing under 130w blue light spectrum and 69w red light spectrum CFLs (total of 199w).

It is about 6 inches tall. It grew slowly because I haven't noticed that the roots are growing out of the bottom of the pot so I recently put her in a bigger one. That was about 3 days ago and since then she grew alot taller.

My question is: Can I put her to flower in the next days or shall I wait till she hits a height of 11 inches?

My main concern is that it may impact yield tremendously if I put her to flower now but I am so excited about it. I'm planning to do LST to optimize the yield and I also invested money in nutrients for the flowering phase.

As for lights, I'm planning 100w red light and 65w blue light during flowering.

A picture of my plants is attached.

Does the plant look healthy to you?

It is my first grow so I am happy for any tips/comments.

    Regards

i'd flip it now, will take a week or 2 to begin flowering ;)

    looks perfectly fine

i got some c99 i'm gettin ready to throw down in a few weeks :yummy:

  3. Good to hear, thanks for the quick reply. ;)

Shall I put her into the flowering soil I bought right away when I flip her and maybe in a bigger pot? Because I have heard they double or triple in size.

    Regards

  4. Flowering soil?
...Is it a soit for 'flowers'? Haha can you put up a picture or a link?

  5. Even a couple more weeks could improve yeild 2 fold, plus if it's more on the mature side you'll notice preflowers sooner after you flip.

Just a thought, since as you said you invested in nutrients for flowering. The bigger she is in flowering, the mor nutrients she can handle.

I know it's exciting as hell and hard to wait, she seems to grow so slow at times. But the most important thing I've learned overall is that patience pays off.

Again, just a suggestion. She's a picture perfect plant, no matter what you do (to an extend) I'd say she'll reward your time and effort.

    Good luck dude! Peace.

  6. Not that I would ever dispute the wisdom of a pro grower, but really though?.....begin flowering at 6" of height? and 3 days after being transplanted to a bigger pot?. (I'm guessing you were messing lol)

In my opinion, give her another few weeks, let her roots grow strong enough to support the growth, and let her grow twice the size she is now before flipping......and I'm not sure what flowering soil is lol, but I think keeping her in the same or similar medium she is currently growing in will do just fine.

  7. Plant looks good, but give it a week or two to recover from repotting.
Once you switch to flowering do not repot or change soil, your just stress the plant out too much.

  8.
Hello, it's been a while since I last checked the thread. I didn't think I'll get so many answers.

It's soil with a nutrient ratio that is prefered in the flowering phase.

I have some new pictures of her. She is almost 50 inches, I had to remove the roof of my grow box because she went so tall.

The seed was put in on 16th August, and I put her to flower on 8th September. Now it's 24th of October (more than 6 weeks since flipping) and the buds don't seem that mature yet. How long do you guys think I need to wait till she is ready to harvest?
I've read that it's very important to find the right time for the female C99 seeds because it can have a special, trippy effect if harvested at the correct time.

  9. I have got to say, that is the weirdest lighting set-up I've ever seen - I think that could be the biggest reason. What is the breeders recommended flowering time?

  10. Yeah, I had to move all the lamps because she literally outgrew my grow box.....
Breeder says 7-8 weeks flowering time as far as I remember.

damn, that looks like a nice plant that is really starting to frost up.

next time when the plant seems to be outgrowing the set up, try and maybe do some low stress training or pruning, and that will help you control the plant to your set up.

I would defnintly give her a few more weeks and let those buds fatten up..

you are sure to have some good smoke, and with practice you will optimize your set up!

remember.... Mary Jane is a fan of kinky bondage!!! i just imagine that top bent over and stressed to the max inducing large bud growth :D

  12. Thanks for your answer mate!

    Another question:
I am flowering under 100w red light and 70w blue light. I would have another 70w blue spectrum CFL but I have read that red light is prefered in the flowering phase and I am wondering if I my plant benefits from another 70w blue light, which totals 140w blue compared to 100w red, or if I need a ration where red light dominates in order to not negatively impact my buds.

    Happy for any tips! :)

  13. some people actually prefer to flower in the blue spectrum... but what if you left the two lights and added the third?? that would be even better

  14. To me the plant looks terrible, nitrogen toxicity maybe.

  15.
    That's what I meant. :)

Keeping the 1x100w red light and 1x70w blue light and adding the other 70w bluelight which equals three lamps total.
I was concerned with the red:blue ratio. To my knowledge, there SHOULD be MORE RED LIGHT than BLUE LIGHT, so I am wondering if I benefit from the extra watts or if it's worse for my plant because there is more blue than red light

I don't know about nitrogen toxicity. Can I test it with some tool?

  16. Wouldn't be certain that you have nitro toxicity, but if so, all you can do to combat it is reduce the amount of nitrogen you are feeding the plant, make sure you are using a bloom nute and not a vegging solution, and maybe give it a pure ph'd flush to remove any additional nitrogen the medium may be harbouring.....but this late in the day I wouldn't worry too much about it.

  17. Nice to see someone else growing Cindy. Here's a few of pics of my c99

    Thanks for the info!

Good to see another C99 grower indeed :) your plant looks great, alot better than mine. It's my first grow though.

I think that my buds won't thicken up anymore. It seems they stopped maturing. Here are some recent pictures:

I don't have a tool to look at the trichomes for colors. There are still many white hairs though compared to orange/brown ones which normally indicate that the buds aren't ready yet, right?

  19. right
