How To Grow When You Have Kids

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by !Redeye!, Sep 7, 2014.

  1. Does anyone here grow with kids living with you? I thought about buying an automated grow box but I'm reading building one is better. I'm only growing for personal use so like 2lbs/year max.

  2. I Would Buy One,, It Comes With Everything Pre-Ready To Go Besides Soil Ect.
It Has Locks And No Light Leaks..

    Spaceman Charlie..

  3. Yeah, like snoop said grow boxes are way overpriced. You're better off building one. I've seen "professional" grow boxes for $3500. you could probably get the same equivilent for $1200 if not WAY less. In my opinion your best bet is keeping your growing area well ventilated and locked, then you should be good to go.

  4. Thanks for your input guys. I've seen boxes around 500 but there's gotta be some quality issues with cheaper boxes right? A member on here built a badass one, might be over my head but it's pretty damn good. I have some saws, circular, jig, recip, that I could prolly do it with.

  5. Option A-The truth shall set you free.

Educate them about cannabis and its current state in the world. Educate them about alcohol and how it became legal. Educate them about corruption, bribery, and greed. Educate them about society. Do what you think is right, have morals and structure and I'm sure they will be just fine.

Oh, educate them that if they run their mouth then you'll beat that ass, and that you could potentially get sent away for a long time out, and if you do you'll beat that ass when you get out.

Option B- Out of site out of mind.

Only tend to the garden while they're sleeping or away from the house. Chances are though if they old enough then they'll find out eventually.

  6. Whatever you decide on make sure it LOCKS! Child Protective Services are mostly unforgiving when it comes to growing! But there is hope-

  7. I think option A is the best way when they're old enough, think it's an over all good state of mind. Lol beat that ass...true though

  8. Yeah for sure. Thanks for those links cuz that's a good point. Fine line to walk I guess

  9. Def don't buy one. Those stupid tiny tents by themselves are hundreds of dollars it's easy and way cheaper to do it yourself . Find an old cabinet someone tossed out and hook it up

I built a grow box inside our master bedroom shower. No one even uses that bathroom except for me and I keep it locked with a key lock. Any spillage it goes right down the drain. Water source right in it. I have also made small cabinet boxes, but the shower has been by far the best.

  12. hey guys i dont know how it is in your state, but in washington rcw69.51a medical marijuana it states
    \t69.51A.120
\tParental rights or residential time - Not to be restricted.A qualifying patient or designated provider may not have his or her parental rights or residential time with a child restricted solely due to his or her medical use of cannabis in compliance with the terms of this chapter absent written findings supported by evidence that such use has resulted in a long-term impairment that interferes with the performance of parenting functions as defined under RCW 26.09.004.
i grow my medicine around my children.......they are involved with my grows period.....they help mix organics, they help feed they help set up grow tents i am teaching them it is my right to teach them about real medicine. they will grow the finest dank around when they have their license to do so if they need it. i will not tolerate any using of this medicine without a rec period. if you try and hide it from your kids then you arent using medicine period. do you hide your pills you pop? alcoholic drinks, do you consume them in front of your kids? what about pills to sleep better? cold medicine? Tylenol? if your legal YOUR LEGAL!

That's actually pretty cool. I think the whole "it's wrong to smoke weed" thing is bs anyway. Especially compared to alcohol and pills.

  15. Actually saw a really sweet box someone on here built. I think I'm gonna try building that one. I'd be pissed if I spent $500 even and the thing had odor leaks or something. I've seen boxes for drying too, I'm sure that stinks too.

  16. 2 pounds a year will require a proper set up so forget those all in one boxes with the little 20w CFLs. If you harvested every 3 months and that's pushing it you would need 8oz per harvest. So you will need at least a 400w HPS to be sure. And around 2x2' - 3x3' of area and full ceiling height. You will need a proper exhaust fan so there will be some noise. Do you have a room that you can have your set up in that can be locked?

  17. This is so true. If you can't find the time and ability to build your own box you wont get enough time to properly manage your grow. The only reason anyone should be buying boxes would be if the money factor was not an issue and they are fully capable of building the box but literally are too lazy and rather just spend the money because 'they can'.

This is not true for all but I think it applies to the majority people.IMO

  18. ^^^ I agree. If you lack the knowledge to be able to put a system together, then you won't know how to use it anyway

  19. I grow and have kids. I keep my tent locked away in my brick shed, they dont go in there. They dont even know whats set up there, last thing i want is kids tellin teacher at school my dad grows plants in a tent in his shed pmsl
