Pyspheres Cabinet Garden - Afghan Kush X Skunk - Lambo

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by PsypherE, Sep 7, 2014.

  1. Hey GC!

I have a new grow underway in my armoire! This time both are being grown in a soil mix of my own creation. here is my soil recipe i put together:

    1 parts - Pro-Mix Organic Veggie & Herb (http://www.promixfindgrowtopia.com/product/detail/pro-mix-vegetables-herb)

    1 part - Pro-Mix Perlite (http://www.promixfindgrowtopia.com/product/detail/pro-mix-specialties-perlite)

    1 part - Circle H Farms Triple Mix (Humus,Peat,Compost)

1 part - ASB Greenworld Organic Manure

1 part - Organic Earth Worm Castings

    1/4 cup - Flower Bat Guano (1-12-4)

    1/8 cup - Bone Meal (4-7-0)

    1/8 cup - Blood Meal (12-0-0)

The two strains I will be growing this time round are Afghani Kush x Skunk by World of Seeds and Lambo aka Rambo by THSeeds. They were sprouted and topped in 5.5" square pots in my PC Grow Box with 2 x 23W CFLs. I am using the main lining technique to achieve 8 equal colas. I completed all the topping in the PC and once the 8 final nodes had started growing out I transplanted to 3 gallon pots and moved to my cabinet under the 90W Blackstar LED Veg UFO. I gave them a week to recover and grow out after the transplant and today i tied everything down and did some LST to space out all 8 colas. 6 colas will encircle the pot and the remaining 2 are directed towards the center. After training the plants I also added a 135W Blackstar LED Bloom UFO. I am going to give them another 3-5 days to recover, do some lower defoliation, give them a final 2-3days recovery then switch over to flower. Here are a few Pics of them today after being LST'd.

  2. Big fan of mainlining here;  you've got a sweet little setup there.
I'm currently redesigning a new cabinet (fluorescent and CFL/ from solos to six inch pots) to accommodate sprouting and veg to feed a small closet (LED and CFL/ graduating to 2 gal buckets)  for more extended vegging then ultimately into a walk in closet (HID and CFL/ finally five gal buckets) for flowering.  What prompted your choice for 8 mains?  My experience (or lack of expertise) brought me from an overly ambitious 16 on my first attempt to a much more modest 4 for this run.

  3. I decided on 8 tops per plant mostly because of my foot print. It seems to have filled out the space perfectly so far. 16 would have been way to many for me. Next year for my outdoor I hope to do a few 16 top monsters! This is my first attempt with mainlining and so far its working out nicely! On the lambo I accidentally spilt one of the stems a bit on the first top so it has a few tops that a little stronger. Its unfortunate but its part of the learning process!

  4. I've split a couple;  still puzzling through the best way to provide support for the multiple mains to relieve this strain at the joint.

  5. I think patience is the answer! I should have waited a few days after topping to do the LST and let the new branches grow out a bit making them a little more pliable and easier to train! Also adding a silica supplement is supposed to make them easier to bend and more resilient after training but I've never tried it!

On Saturday I moved the Afghan kush x skunk and Lambo into 5 gallon containers. They were both extremely root bound after only 2-1/2 weeks in the 3 gallon pot which I think is the cause of the signs of cal/mag deficiency I saw on the Lambo and the slowed growth over the last 3-4 days!

On Saturday I also started brewing an AACT. I used 3 tbls of organic manure, 6 tbls of earthworm castings, 2 tbls of flowering bat guano, 1 tbls of slow release bone/blood meal pellets, 1 tsp Epsom salt, 2 tbls of fancy molasses, and 2tsp of General Organics CalMag+. Tonight I will be feeding the tea at about 1/2 strength with water!

When I feed the girls tonight I will also do some final defoliation and on Wednesday I will be flipping to 12/12!

  6. Glad I found this thread. Love your cabinet setup. I'll definitely be using your threads as a guide for my future cab buikd. Keep up the good work. Lol

  7. Thanks man! If you check out my previous grow you can see my success with this setup with autos here: http://forum.grasscity.com/micro-grows/1312092-pyspheres-cabinet-three-autos-three-methods.html and here: http://forum.grasscity.com/micro-grows/1134331-pyspheres-led-cabinet-dark-lord-x2-coco-fabric-pots.html

I have plans to improve my cabinet further as well. I hope to mount the fan outside the cab on the left wall. It will pull from a short 17.5" cool tube inside the cab with a 90* bend between them. The filter will also be attached to the left exterior wall directly below the fan. In side the cab the cool tube will take up the top left and I will put the 135W Blackstar LED in the top right. At about 16-18" off the bottom I plan to divide the cabinet to create a veg/pre-flower area in the bottom and use the top for flowering. As it stands now I have not been using the entire height of the cabinet yet and I figure I can put it to good use!

I just put my plants in a 24hr dark period to kick start flowering and tomorrow they will start their 12/12 light cycle. When the lights come on I will snap a few picture tomorrow so you guys can take a look!

  8. Hey! So they just started 12/12 today! They have filled out the cabinet foot print nicely! They have already started showing root out of the 5 gallon pot in only 5 days.

The Afghan Kush x Skunk is my personal fave of the two with its tighter growth and indica traits.
    1411088012498.jpg
The Lambo is a lot more lanky and obviously has more sativa influences. It is the fastest grower of the two but is almost to lanky for my cabinet.

  9. Hey GC!

I have an update for you! These pictures are from day 12 of flower. 1412179646659.jpg
As you can see the footprint is pretty well filling and may be a little on the overcrowded side but we'll see what happens! 1412179665060.jpg
I just finished defoliating the bottom of the plants and left the top 1/2-1/3 to grow out and bud. They have definitely started their stretch and I expect this to continue for another 2 weeks or so 1412179635136.jpg
As you can see height isn't to much of an issue and once I switch the HPS on in a week or 2 I may even need to raise them back up!

The Lambo is definitely the lanky one with a more sativa profile. Its been the trickier of the 2 plants because even with the mainlining technique I'm finding some branches are out growing others so ive had to do some extra LST and super cropping on them to keep everything else growing even!
    1412179597060.jpg 1412179608429.jpg

The Afghan Kush x Skunk is my favourite to grow so far! Its being nice and symmetrical which really shows off the strengths of the mainlining technique! It growing nice and even and looks pretty! 1412179616429.jpg 1412179625850.jpg

As you can see below the bud sites have also just started forming! 1412179684094.jpg

As always, feel free to leave some suggestions, comments or just leave some love!

  10. Nice progress and training. My cabinet build (modeled after urs) should be starting in about two weeks. Just need to get moved & settled into my new place before I turn up. Lol

  11. Looking forward to see how you improve upon my basic design! I'm hoping that after this run I can gut my cabinet and make a few improvements! Namely I want to move my inline fan outside of the armoire and add a short cool tube for my HID. I also want to make a separate veg area in the bottom by adding a shelf about 16" off of the bottom. I'll then look at running my 90w veg led and a cfl or two down there and just the HID and 135w flower LED up top for flower. That should allow me to set up a small perpetual system germinating a seed or starting a clone every month or so.

  14. Hey GC!

Here is an update! They just finished week 3 of flower and are looking really nice! 1413048179583.jpg 1413048143552.jpg 1413048134965.jpg

The Afghan Kush x Skunk is looking really good and the buds are growing daily! They have a really nice structure so far and I'm looking forward to watching them finish! 1413048126702.jpg 1413048118494.jpg 1413048105644.jpg 1413048097145.jpg

The Lambo is also doing nicely but is a little stretchier as its more sativa. The buds are forming nicely as well and the stretch seems to have stopped! 1413048088098.jpg 1413048079109.jpg 1413048071646.jpg 1413048063115.jpg

The next 5-7 weeks should be fun!!!

  15. Update Time!!!

The plants are both looking amazing! They are at day 28 of flower and looking very promising! 1413504223822.jpg

For the first 4 weeks of flower I have had the plants under the 135w flower LED and 90w veg LED. 1413504198244.jpg 1413504207153.jpg
Today I swapped out the 90w veg LED and added the 250w HPS. I had to raise the plants to reach the HPS as well but I think I have everything positioned well! 1413504401714.jpg 1413504431716.jpg

The Afghan Kush x Skunk is looking and smelling amazing. The buds are really starting to form trichrome and the hairs are popping out everywhere! 1413504233878.jpg 1413504245141.jpg 1413504255587.jpg 1413504273092.jpg

The Lambo is also doing really well and flowering along nicely! Its also sprouting white pistils all over the place! 1413504287025.jpg 1413504329010.jpg 1413504344062.jpg 1413504364676.jpg

  16. I started a final tea tonight. I don't use exact measurements but here's a rough estimate.

    1 gallon of water
    2 tblspn Molasses
    1 tblspn EWC
    1 tblspn Organic Manure
    1 tblspn Bloom Bat Guano
    1 tsp Epsom Salt
    1 tsp General Organics CaMg+
1 tsp Botanicare ProBlend Bloom for Soil
1 tsp Advanced Nutrients Voodoo Juice

All the solids go in a sock with the air stone and the liquids are mixed in thoroughly and the air pump is turned on. I will let it brew for 36-48hrs before application.

    Peace & Love

  17. Hey pyspher im sure your aware but the voodoo is usually only used the first two weeks of veg and then first two of flowering. My advice since you re-use your soil if omce your past two weeks of flower use advanced nutrients senzyme. It will break down old roots and really is a great product. Just my thoughts but if it works and your happy keep her as she is. Looking good tho
