This was my plant on July 15th. I had two prior grows that failed as seedlings so I wasn't tracking for certain times. This is the earliest photo I have.

Hiii I'm new :) I've been lurking and reading for a couple months and have decided to experiment myself.

My grow setup is currently in progress but thus far it consists of ~

    2 - 900 lumen // 60 watt CFLs
    A reflector
    Mater Magic ( 8-5-5 )
    Soil

A little bit of history, she was grown the first 31 days outdoors. I began to see bug bites on her so I researched and discovered the soapy water method. I did it and this is what resulted -

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1409762620.028123.jpg

Before, she looked like this -

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1409762651.678434.jpg

    Sad, right?

So I moved her indoors because the bug problem was making things worse. Finding crickets on her and such. Ugh.

Now this is what she currently looks like in her new under construction home -

This is my LST training and so far her stem is growing in the desired direction.

So...any comments or advice or criticisms are all welcome as I begin officially logging my grow! She is currently 50~ days old.

  2. So now here's what she looks like. Any sign of sex yet from anyone? I just fed and watered her. I'm happy with how quickly she's flourished bushy-wise.

  3. Going to transplant soon and I'm buying better tying down methods because she's curving in an S shape instead of staying down. So damn attracted to that light haha.

My last two seedlings failed during transplant, they never recovered from the shock. I'm hoping so far into growing that this one doesn't do the same. She's survived a lot.

I'm just sick of a couple flying gnats and the random baby centipedes I find in her from bringing her indoors from outside.

I'm letting the centipede do it's thing for now since I heard they like yummy gnats and don't eat my plant, but being indoors I just don't like the idea of critters I can't control running loose.

Another week and I'm going to switch her into flowering. She's grown above the cage already and is bushing out quickly (I think thanks to the fert!) so I'm thrilled.

  4. Boyfriend transplanted her for me yesterday while I was at work. She's a bit droopy today. Transplant shock? Or overwatering?

Unsure. But today I bought these lights ~
    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1410116292.687216.jpg

And I set them up with an additional reflector in her home like this now~

    ImageUploadedByGrasscity Forum1410116334.277504.jpg

So now I've got four bulbs going. Two day lights and two soft whites.

I also want to begin flowering her in a week so I bought this, it's 14-14-14 NPK ~

So here are some more pictures of my new grow setup. Thanks to those that have been following me thus far! Started with a desk lamp now we here LOL

  5. I am new to the grass city forums but i would see about upping your wattage! Hard to get the people that know what they are doing to take the time to help on small grows. I am only 30 days on my grow indoors with cfls but each plant has atleast 120 actual watts(400 watts). Like i said i am new but love to soak in the info and have done as much research as I can. 6. Whoa mine is 60~ days from seed and nowhere near as huge as yours! Okay I definitely upped my wattage just today and I'll pop the other two bulbs in as well.

Right now I got the two 60W and the two other ones I posted (I believe 45W) I'll pop in another two 60W and buy new adapters for them.

And most of all thank you so very much for chiming in. It seems every forum I join I'm the least popular in LOL but I enjoy logging my progress so I keep going.

If you have any other tips or advice feel free to let me know I take criticism super well and it's only my first semi-successful grow haha.

Leaves are perking up after I watered her throughout because she felt awful dry though boyfriend said he watered her when he transplanted.

Still not where she was yet but she's not looking so dead anymore haha :)

  7. Yes right now I'm running two 60W 900 lumen CFLs that are soft white and two 75W 1300 lumen CFLs that are daylight.

How much do you suggest I add? I haven't used the two 45W CFLs yet.

I was also looking at the Home Depot LEDs, are they worth it? Or am I good with just using CFLs?

  8. I'm only using and cfls and I feel us noobs are looked down on for using cfls. I have seen some great grows with them though. Those y adapters are pretty affordable at like a true value or Home Depot. I dont know much on the LEDs as they are just getting the attention they deserve. I am using 4 23 watt(100 watt replacements) and they seem to be doing well. With soil the best judge for watering is if u put your finger in the soil and its dry up to first knuckle add water. Also if you are using tap water its best to let your water set atleast a day or two before using it. Chemicals will dissipate by it sitting. I am using the osmocote plant food as im on a budget with the first grow I havent had an problem with nut burn either by using half a cap full for a three gallon pot. Again i am new like you just have a disorder when I get interested something I cant stop learning so most my info comes from experienced growers.

  10. Wow yeah those y adapters would do me a lot better than the single ones I have now. Your setup is dope!

I didn't know that about tap water, I'm making some to sit out as I type lol I don't want any pH issues.

Idk why we are looked down upon, everyone has to start somewhere and it's nice to help someone become more wise than to turn your nose up at their methods lol. I'm a Gemini so that's my disorder for delving so deeply into things. Once I start I become obsessed with becoming better and better so I read up on stuff all the time. Took me a second to seriously consider this and I had three failed attemps but I'm hoping this one is going to be the one! I'm not even looking for any real weight here. 16g would do me fine, 28 God willing. If I get more than that? I'll pass out haha

She's healed from her transplant shock. After I watered her real good her leaves are coming up again! I didn't kill her this time yay :)

  15. She dropped two older fan leaves due to nitrogen toxicity because I got nute happy not realizing the nute I got was extended release. Since then she's recuperated well. I'm learning a LOT this first grow in terms of mistakes.

I'm not an old skool, but I have grown for years, just not moneyjuana. never had the space, but now with the times changing, I made room to grow.

I don't think type of lights mater, It's how much in the PAR range and how bright you can get'em. If I was going cfl's, I'd buy the 100 watters, at least 10 of'em. look in the 6000k and 3000k range, those Y adapters work well. and having light all around the plant make a big dif rather then having 1000 watts above them. Some say watts grow a plant. just another debate that has been going on for a long time. buy yes, the more light you can get, the better. sun is always best if you can.

I use a few tblsps of viniger for ph down. most water is around 7ph. they like it A lil lower, in the 6.4 range.
Remember, you are growing a weed, they can withstand a lot of crap.
I was able to pick up a 1000w HPS, digital ballist, hood and bulb for $200.
If you do buy the LEDS from hardware store, look for ones that don't have a cover. light has to travel thru any kinda glass or plastic b4 hitting the bush.

Everyone has their own opinion on nutes, I like the IONIC (grow & bloom) cuz there is no mixing. I'm waiting on my compost b4 I go live soil.

  18. Ohhhhh such great advice!!! Thank you so very much for taking the time out to come school the newbie haha. I need something to check the ph, I haven't gotten that advanced yet but as time goes along I am increasing my grow space.

Looks like next paycheck (Thursday) I need to make a visit to Home Depot again to grab some more lights. I got two more daylights already I can add for now to have 6 total. Then I'll purchase more.

  19. Hello to both both of you @YouBeLION and @TheHerbalDoctor
First thing Ill say is I love CFLs and have had very good luck with them. I do use a little HPS as well too but as for wattage 90% of my light is CFLs. Here is a few hardware store setups that i use that work very well.

This is my main hood from my last grow its just a bathroom vanity fixture hanging from chains ect it has 3 y splitters and 2 single bulbs for a total of 208 true watts wich is roughly 800 watt equivilant excuse my spelling lol. A fixture like this could hold up too 12 bulbs of whatever wattage you have lying around so you could hit around 312 true watts or rougly 1200 equilivalant watts using only 26 watt 6500k GE bulbs and it cost me about 15 bucks to make lol.
    light upgrade.jpg

wow my bird just shit on me for the first time ever while i was typing that lol

heres another hardware store one 104 watts and cost about 6 bucks to make sorry its hard too see i keep 2 of these on the sides during flower and use them to germ multiple small seedlings in solo cups
    cn54f29.jpg

budporn from 90% CFL from birth next to a MH lamp I never used lol 43 days into flower 68 days old from birth

    LN68F43.jpg

good luck following your grow as well.

  20. All this info about lighting is just filling my mind with knowledge. I'm already trying to think of ways to build efficient lighting.

I LOVE the bathroom vanity one, could you give me some basic pointers on how I would create that myself? I definitely love CFLs as I don't have much equipment to exhaust an MH or HPS light

Not to mention I lalalalalaloveeeee looking at bud porn yessss lol
