Been looking into it myself when I saw about grafting hops onto cannabis because cannabis roots faster than hops. Saw one where cannabis was grafted onto hops lol

  7. I read about that years ago, but saw no benefit to growing hops with cannabis and remember that the early experiments failed, but I havent read about it for years. Brings to mind the potato tomato hybrid.

Grafting will be good for people with limited space and access to cheap clones.

You can bet the smart Mexican farm workers in Toppenish, WA have perfected that (big time hop growing there). Migrant workers do most all of the trellising of the plants and are highly skilled farmers despite and derogatory stereotypes given to them by lesser informed people.

Both in the Nightshade family so it would be fun to play with that this next spring in the greenhouse.

  10. Remember those farms i told you I worked for where we grew 80lbs of dank per destination?

They were ALL run by one MASTER GARDENER! I MUST give him his due respect. This old man, an illegal immigrant from MEXICO could grow plants that would have GOD himself scratchin his head going, hey, how the helld you do that?

I truly felt my presence there was completely unneccesary, however, he knew how to grow and how to do this or that but not WHY and thats where my education and research provided help. I had to tell him not to use some of the pesticides legal in Mexico since theyre banned here, as that would most certainly cause the smokers cancer.

Ive watched acres of land go from being peach groves to being torn down and completely rebuilt into acres of grapes in 1 week flat. Unbelievable to witness. These people work like dogs, and when I see them out there I feel like bringing them a big jug of water a joint and a snadwhich. :(

Makes you see the world differently and provides a unique perspective and profound understanding of humanity exploiting humanity.....

I admire their work ethic, loyalty to self and family, and that they are not bitter about their place in the world. We should be ashamed of our comfort.

  11. Sorry guys been busy I have grafted several strains the host plant is girl scout cookies x afghooey tan wax.... The grafts are all my strains red Magoo cherry Magoo lemon skunk grand daddy purps and ace of spades. I have 3 different phenos of red Magoo. Red Magoo red dragon x blue Magoo cherry Magoo cherry pie x blue Magoo. I will explain its like cloning but u have to sterilize like crazy and have sharp tools clean blades. You cut scion and attach to host. Wrap wound with rubber band to seal. Cover with wet thick double czipper baggie. Keep an eye on it. Sometimes tying up with string helps. U must keep scion damp but not grafting site.....if site gets wet graft dies. Sometimes graft will actually root into host roots sticking out of site. Using super thrive in spray bottle works great make sure to ph water bottle to 6 don't let scion dry out.... Make host site bigger than scion stem. Slide scion into host stem....make sure to v cut scion stem to expose flesh to graft. After sliding scion into host wrap with rubber band secure well spray baggy well cover entire site with baggie and seal best u can. Treat like cutting/clone keep moist. After 2-4 weeks u can remove baggie... Its hard but with practice u will have a beast like me! 1 mother 8 grafts

  12. Is it anything like grafting fruit trees?

  13. No its harder your dealing with a hard wood plant but scions are soft wood. Its just like cloning except you attach to plant wrap the wound and cover entire scion including grafted spot with good thick baggie that will almost seal if done right u can remove baggie after a week

  14. What helps sometimes is to widen the spot u want to graft into by sliding snip blades into stem and cutting a little bit across stem. If you slice toon far down you will create a void and the graft and branch will die n mold sometimes. The key is a good grafting site. Pick a thick stem like 1\\2 thick right where the 2 leaves come together snip u should have a hole now. If needed widen hole and if needed snip across top of hole. So find host branch eyeball it. Find scion the clone so to speak eyeball stem does the graft stem appear larger? How much larger? Enough to graft??? OK now have everything ready. Have a cup no water. Wipe snips blade razor whatever clean with iso. Cut clone/scion place in cup set aside. Clean blade. Cut host branch. Widen and snip top if needed. Note before snipping top eyeball scion and determine which way it would be best to attach. Usually so it faces up....alright quickly widen host branch if needed v cut scion slide into host branch fit snug but don't break or bend. Now take rubberband break wrap around stem a few times where scion is. Tie wrap again tie. Now it should be snug but don't pull on it too tight. If you did it right sometimes it will gimp just like a clone sometimes. Misting the baggie is key....also when sealing with rubber band 7 can use tape or grafting tape but rubberband works best. If u split stem past graft make sure to seal it completely. I
Demo coming later today I will be grafting lemon skunk onto host. Note you can also graft while cloning.....so u get roots on clone while graft is grafting. It takes about 3 weeks this way but u can graft a v and veg it and then flip bloom and grow 2 different strains on one plant. Note....plants do not cross each others strains. This is so you do not need multiple mother plants. Every time u get a new baby graft a branch onto mother. Note....if u have blue dream on grand daddy mother where they meet at grafting point anything above graft will be blue dream. Anything below will be grand daddy...it is easy to do once u figure it out. To begin with you will be lucky to get 1 in 7 to take.......keep trying follow my instructions and percentage will increase...feed light doses to mother while trying to graft. Never heavy feed..if u can clone in the 90% or greater level u will master grafting quickly. It took me 2 months now I have beast mother....u need fat stems to work with...graft multiple sites at once. I have found grafts accept quicker if close to lights is graft on upper parts like 1\\3 re or closer to top...

  15. Next on list harvesting plant and grafting clone onto it to use for roots...massive roots may be key to quicker taking along with quicker growth once rooted

  16. Youre gonna have to do a video or take better pics with steps.

I have a hard time reading walls of text and understanding for some odd reason. You totally lost me there trying to imagine it all.

I didnt get grafting either, but i saw a simple video and was like, DING!

    :smoke:

    You feel me?

  17. So today OP really mind fucked me lol

He told me he plans to graft a few different female strains onto a male, so that the male can pollinate all of them after he switches to flower.

Truly fascinating this guys experiments. Im lovin it!

Quite interesting way to cross breed

  19. The one benefit of grafting Cannabis, that I can see, is for medicinal growers who are limited to a specific number of plants.   One mother with 4-5 different genetics on it is ideal!   However, I've yet to come across a strain that has such amazing quality flowers that the root system was so weak as it couldn't support the upper growth.   I've definitely had amazing strains that grew slower, or in strange formations, but that would only continue after the point of the graft - if grafted to a stronger growing root system.
