Misting Plants - A Big No-No?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by LovingTree, Sep 2, 2014.

  1. Hi,

I always thought that it would be appropriate, if not proper to mist any kind of plant (in general, really). However, I recently read that mist can promote mold growth, is this true? I always thought misting was a good way to freshen up the plant without overwatering.

  2. I mist my babies all the time usually the water will evaporate within an hour or so. I've never had an issue with mold due to spraying the foliage.

You mention spraying the foliage. Are there any specific areas you mist / avoid?

  4. Nah I just spray it till she starts dripping then leave her be.

  5. Never spray anything on your bud.

  6. seconded

  7. I dont mist anything. Growing hydro mist belongs on the roots, not on the top of the plant. :)

  8. I guess I should have mentioned I only spray then during the vegetative period.

If you're humidity is too high then misting is not only pointless, it can promote fungal growth. If your humidity is low then mist away. Just don't over do it. Obviously you don't ever want to mist your buds - that's just asking for mold. Humidity stays in the mid-50's here so I avoid misting anything but clones as its just not necessary (for my situation).
