Should I Tell My Parents

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by jkwarrior200, Sep 1, 2014.

  1. Should I tell my parents I smoke weed? I've been doing it for 9 months and have kept my grades up (still in high school) but I'm afraid my dad would pull my college fund or something like that.

  2. This is one of those things you shouldn't be asking complete strangers advice for. I'm sure you know what the answer is already. Don't look to other people for reinforcement.

If you don't want to tell, don't tell. If you want to tell, tell. Simple as that. Whatever the reason is, that's between you and your parents (if you choose to share).

  3. Unless they are liberal about it i would say no, as long as your life is going good right now, why ruin it by telling them? I'm not saying your parents are like my mom was but when i used to live with her, she found out i was smoking and she literally started crying and thought i was like a meth head or something and "going down the wrong path". It killed me to see her worry about it like that but it was her own ignorance about the subject, my life was great while i was smoking, grades were good, working a lot, and just having a great time.

  4. WTF? Really?

  6. If you have a medical reason for smoking they may understand more.

  9. What I did is very gradually over maybe 1 - 1.5 years slowy brought it in to discussion.

A fantastic way to talk about it is news issues regarding it that fall in favor of cannabis.

Talk to them about medicinal uses of it, and if there is an issue you could say you are taking it for, that would also help.

But take it really slowly, this takes months and months of work but should it work, it will work well.

I turned my old strict parents into people I could randomly bring up a conversation about weed with, they eased into it.

Always remember it's okay to compremise with them, I no doubt believe that if they did allow you, they may implement rules like "no smoking it in the house" And "Not being open about it on social media."

    Best of luck to you.

  10. You know your parents better than us.

I told mine in senior year, I had been smoking about a half year heavily, grades had actually improved. I knew my dad smoked at least once or twice a week cause I'd found weed in his room when I was a little younger, and could tell when he was stoned but never said anything. My mom, on the other hand, was SUPER anti-weed and thought it was the devils drug. I decided to take the risk.

Neither of them was super happy with the frequency, but couldn't deny the (initial) positive changes in my lifestyle. My dad just accepted it, my mom grew to accept it after many arguments and research presented to her.

By the end of first year university I was allowed to toke on my deck with friends.

  12. Depends on your parents. My mom found my stash last year (Im still in highschool to), and she didnt say anything, but I was basically grounded for the next month-month and a half (didn't tell me I was grounded, just "I dont think you should go out tonight"). I think it put a bit of stress on her to, but I think shes getting more used to it (whenever I ask for money she always jokes about me spending it on joints).

I wouldnt tell them, just asking to create a unnecessary situation, and theres little chance of any good coming from it

  13. If you even in the slightest think they would retaliate by pulling your college fund dont be an idiot and tell them is there a reason your dying to tell them? No? Then dont. Dont let them know and keep doing good you've been doin it for the past 9 months just do that and stay discrete once you know you can have a calm discussion about it do it. I can tell you because i literally had this convo with my parents yesterday been smoking for 5 years now and they've known they always were 100% against it but with the legalization and progress we're making they started to see it not as a drug but as harmless as tobacco (tobaccos not harmless but you get my drift) I think mostly what they thought was because if the government says its a drug its a drug but yesterday we just talked about weed i told them dude i cant tell you why i love the plant so much til you try it yourself and see all the benefits what im saying is once you talk to your parents know what youre gonna say and the goal is to shake all the myths that they think about cannabis and set the record the straight on it they probably dont know much of it so educate them thats honestly the only way you can get people to view this as just a plant with so many benefits.

  14. Are you stupid most seniors are 18

Remember me? The one you stole your idea from.

  15. I lived in a pretty strict house hold in high school and would smoke every night. Once I got caught I made it clear to my parents that I wasn't quitting anytime soon.

They hated me using it at first, but after I convinced them it was a legitimate natural medicine that is less harmful than aspirin they gradually got more comfortable with it. But like everyone else is saying, its up to you man
