Considering Smoking 2X A Week - Advice

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by dannyboy67, Sep 1, 2014.

  1. Just a 20 year old guy in college growin' up way too fast, and looking for a little something to ease the growing pains. I'm hurting pretty bad inside, just generally feeling stressed out, over-analytical at times, and fearful.

I've smoked before, sporadically from spring of '13 to spring of '14, but I haven't touched the stuff all summer. Would I be fine if I smoked twice a week? I'm on antipsychotic medication (Abilify/ aripiprazole) but it doesn't really get me where I want to. I've got a light courseload this semester so I'm not too concerned
about blazing out and flunking out.

  2. Unless you're worried about triggering a psychotic episode (like if you have schizophrenia or BP), what's the problem? Smoking twice a week doesn't cause flunking out. Even if you can't study while blazing, taking a couple breaks from studying for a few hours each week is healthy.

  3. i would go for it. sounds like you're doing for positive reasons and you're going to keep the habit in check. ya man go for it! :metal:

  4. Smoker up mon!>_>

    dilligaf

  5. Its up to you and what's comfortable for you. Twice a week is a joke for a med patient like me I smoke more then a half ounce a day sometimes. Thank god I live in Nor Cal and grow my own constantly. :)

  6. Yes, smoking like two times a week is WAY better than getting over stressed out and ...well, lots of people tend to have a harder time coping with that, than a little puff here and there.

You may be too overanalytical in your preparation for getting high ;)

Just get yourself some, and when you need to relax, smoke it. If that turns out to be once a week, or five times a week -it'll change and should depending on your stress levels, etc.

When it comes to NOT triggering a psychotic episode, MODERATION and CBD Rich is key!!  Your meds cover a range of things, so Im not sure for what you are medicating, but choosing an indica, hybrid or sativa is going to be affected by that. As well as the exact effects you are looking for out of the experience. Sleep? A little writing help? Sense of peacefulness. They can all be brought on with some specific types. THAT is the part to geek out on, if you can!

  7. Thanks to all. I'll probably just go for it, I just need to feel rather than think sometimes, as my rational mind would be the death of me unless I could keep it in check. I worry too much about myself or what people think of me... actually, I worry too much in general. I'm worrying right now, about smoking. Do you see why I need stress relief?

Yes, and I have to say, if you go into this worrying, you're likely to set yourself up for a bad trip. I have had too many friends who, thinking they needed more, took too much, and instead of just accepting that they took too much decided to swear it all off instead. It's so counterproductive.

Remember, you're totally cool. It's just weed. No matter what. It's just weed. If it gets bad, grab some coloring books and some crayons ;) and just chill and breath :)

but, really, go slow and it'll just be chill. You deserve a break!

  9. dude, just smoke a doobie, walk around the block, do some yoga, take a hot bath ...

  10. I totally understand the anxiety. I have had the exact same thought pattern with the mmj. I was actually stoned and watched the movie "Crystal Fairy and the Magical Cactus" and had an epiphony about my own patterns of obsession over certain habits or hobbies and how much anxiety it caused me.

I'm at the point where I smoke a couple times a week and enjoy it.
It sounds like you have a "parent voice" in you head telling you that this is not ok to do.
That could come from a few sources, maybe finding that could help you too.

I say give yourself permission to experience this natural medicine, give yourself permission to be happy and stress free when you use it.
As always with any medication you might need some accountability within your self or a friend so that it doesn't get away from you.

Respect the herb and it will respect you.
    Best of luck.

Well I got with a couple of mates and smoke a few bowls. I have to say it was a refreshing experience, I felt a lot more "open" than I had in awhile. If you're familiar with the feeling where you suddenly recognize a lot of repressed memories and emotional experiences, I got that. It was nice to not need to think so much. I got to play some music as well (I'm a musician) and of course it was purely awesome. I feel like playing is such a better experience while high.

It must have been some good weed, because my entire body got tingly and I couldn't feel my hands for awhile....or remember how to walk home. In fact I don't remember much of the evening except that it was awesome, haha.

I got a lot more stoned than my friend (who smokes multiple times a week), and I hadn't smoked since April. Would my infrequent smoking explain the strong reaction?
