Hi, one of my plants has started to look very weak and droopy, it has happened very quickly in the past couple of days. There are 4 plants in a recirculating DWC system, yesterday this was the only droopy looking one but now a second is starting to go a tiny bit droopy.

Air temps have never got below 19.6c (67f) and has peaked during the grow at 27.9c (82f) but it is usually just under 80. You can see the water temperature at 20.6c (69f) but it has got as high as 23 (73) on occasion, though not in the days leading up to this.

The pH is stable at 5.8 most of the time though it did drop to 5.6 on Friday which is when the droopiness first began to show, since correction it has maintained the right pH. The EC is 1.0. Until Friday the plant in question looked pretty much identical to this one.

The strain is a haze/indica cross and the plants were put in the buckets as soon as roots came out of the bottom of the cubes and the first leaves had formed, that point was about 18 days ago and at the moment they are still on an 18/6 schedule.

I don't have a photo to confirm it but the roots are still healthy looking. It looks to me like it is overwatered which is an issue I have never had since I switched from soil. I have lowered the water level so there is more root exposed to air just in case. I would estimate that when full the system holds 80l of water (just under 18 gallons) including a header tank, each plant bucket has an airstone with1/4 of the output from a 15w pump. I have also added a 5w pump this morning to the header tank so hopefully that gets a bit more dissolved oxygen in the system. I'm inclined to believe that the nutrient solution is fine as the good looking plants look very good. If there isn't an improvement after lowering the water level a touch and adding more air I'll dump out the solution and start afresh, unless someone thinks there is anything I've overlooked?

    Thanks

  2. are there any signs of mold in the reservoir?

  3. Having the same issue...

  4. No, no signs at all, the plant is slowly recovering, of the 4 plants in there it is the only one to show these particular symptoms.

The other ill plant now has very crispy leaves and its stem has become very weak at the base and is thinner and woodier than the rest of the stem. I have no idea what has caused either as everything has been kept under control, pH has never gone out of range and while the temps have got a little high at times I don't think it's that either. I've flushed them a few times now and the floppy one is looking a little better.

I've been spraying them weekly with plant magic evolution spray. It's supposed to encourage vegetative growth and the formation of new branches. I have never seen a plant more densely packed with leaves than the one which has the crispy leaves. I wonder if it has reacted badly to the spray and gone in to some kind of overdrive where the plant has grown faster than it can cope with. If you look up close, inside the plant it is absolutely packed with branches and leaves, it is far more indica looking than the others but even with that in mind it's a ridiculously dense plant.

The other two plants in there are continuing to grow and look exceptionally healthy. As a precaution the crispy one has been isolated from the system and is now in an individual pot, I'm pretty sure it's as good as dead. I'll show a photo of it this evening

  5. If there are any kind of hormones in that spray I'd lay off for a while because you are exactly right about if it is trying to grow faster than it can handle it will die. That's how some herbicides work after all

  6. Yeah, it does contain hormones, if it is that then it's surprising that it has caused two totally different problems on half the plants and no problems on the others. To me it does look very much like that is what has happened, it's like a little ball of leaves, I've never seen anything so dense in my life and for something which has haze in it's lineage it's even more surprising.
