Ok probably a dumb question but I'm using botanicare %100 nutrients does it qualify as a organic grow even though it is dwc? Let's Smoke About It..... http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1320164-Sade's-First-Grow-Green-Crack
Probably depends on who you ask, but I think not. To me, organics implies organisms. Microbes of various sorts doing all the work of breaking down matter into the building blocks our plants needs and feeding it to the roots in exchange for sugars produced by the plants. The plants tells the microbes what it needs based on the sugars and certain enzymes I think, then they deliver them and get rewarded. Symbiosis at the most basic level. (At least that's sort of what happens. I think. Might have messed that up. I AM high after all.) Sent from somewhere over there. No, not there...over THERE.
ok thanks I kind of figured that. All natural. Let's Smoke About It..... http://forum.grasscity.com/index.php?/topic/1320164-Sade's-First-Grow-Green-Crack
You're using bottled nutrients and asking us if it's organic? Huh? Sent from my Galaxy Note II. I know you bitchez be jealous.
YES! DWC can be organic. Here is a recipe for nutrients. 1 1/2 teaspoons fish emulsion, 1 1/2 teaspoons liquid seaweed, and a teaspoon of blood meal to each gallon of water. http://www.motherearthnews.com/organic-gardening/homegrown-hydroponics-zmaz77mazbon.aspx?PageId=2#ArticleContent I use this brand of nutrients. http://www.hydro-organics.com/site/
No its not. Simple. The idealogy behind organic growing is the symbiotic relationship that is formed between the plant and the soil web. So you take 'man' out of the equation and all you have to do is keep the soil moist so the microorganisms in the soil can do what nature intended. Sure, you can force feed your plant organic bottled nutrients. You are still the one choosing what to give the plant instead of nature. So no, it's not organic because YOU are controlling what the plants feed instead of the plant. Sent from my Galaxy Note II. I know you bitchez be jealous.
Bullshit, you choose what the plant eats in soil the same way. The only thing different is the medium. I have grown plants aquaponic too, try and tell me thats not organic.
You don't choose what the plant eats in soil. It chooses, you just put the food in the soil. Basically the plant is living in a grocery store this way, it goes and eats what it wants when it wants. DWC is like sitting the plant down in a restaurant without a menu and serving it what you want when you think it wants it. There is no comparison. Sent from my Galaxy Note II. No, aquaponics is where the plants are being watered with water from a fish tank. The plant grow medium filters the water before returning it to the tank, and the fish waste feeds the plants. I agree that it can be 100% organic. It's considered bad practice to add anything non-organic to a system like this. I have a current aquaponics grow journal in the "hydroponics journals" section. The plants seem okay so far, 3 weeks in. I consider it experimental for cannabis, because there's not a lot of data about it. @[member="snoopdog6502"] : have you ever tried growing mj using aquaponics? Did you have any success with that?
I did not grow cannabis but did grow tomatoes, culinary herbs and some flowers and big gold fish of course. I had plenty of nitrates but not enough other stuff for the tomatoes to set fruit.
I've gotten tomatoes and peppers to successfully fruit in my system, so I'm hoping that's a sign maybe the system can handle cannabis as well.
This article from 1977 intrigues me and I also wonder about making an "organic" liquid to feed in a dwc or even coco.
Mother earth news is a good publication for the small farmer/homesteader who wants to be self sufficient and organic as much as possible. Lots of great ideas in the magazines. the the liquid seaweed, blood meal, fish meal and even earthworm castings could be formulated to make a kick ass hydroponic nutrient solution.
i have experience in coco and boy would i love to just mix my own shit rather than feel like I have to buy bottled nute$, and be able to stay in the medium without losing yield.
I would think that that is doable, inside of a $20 bottle is about 50 cents worth of shit, and it may very well be genuine shit too. I buy bat diarrhea in a bottle, It saves me the trouble of raising my own bats and putting diapers on them.
